1) PQP(PROJECT QUALITY PLAN):- Project quality plan is one of


the mandatory documents for any type of project. As long as
project has defined objectives and deliverables. There should be a
project quality plan to measure process quality.

Every project delivers something at the end of project execution


when it comes to the project initiation the project management
and client define the objective and delivers of the project
together with completion time lines.

During the project execution there are a number of project


delivers made, all these delivers should adhere to certain quality
standards as well as specific client requirement. For that of reason
we need project quality plan(PQP).

CONTENTS OF PQP:-

a) Responsibility management
b) Document management and control
c) Requirement scope
d) Design control
e) Development control
f) Testing and quality assurance
g) Risk and quality audit
h) Training requirement

2) PROJECT ORGANIZATION:-

The project organization define the human infrastructure of the


project this task is design to define the project organization chart,
the roles, the relationship of the project team. The organizational
structure clearly identifies role and responsibilities of each

position, this should over all personnel resources required both


full and part time.

Recruit project team members, it will also be necessary to


determine outsourcing requirement that will drive the project
plan by identifying of external contractors required.

Identify client/users to be associated with the project and


determine the level of participatation required and available.

Identify the additional technical requirement to support the


project such as training, HR, helpdesk, learning centre and quality
requirement.

3) AUDITING:-

For every project, regardless of its size or the nature there should
be size periodic quality audits to measure the adherence to the
quality standards, these audits can be done by an internal team or
an external team.

The general definition is an audit is an evaluation of a person,


organization, system, process, project or product.

A system of quality audit verified by quality management


system(ISO9001).

Quality audit also necessary to provide evidence concerning


reduction and elimination of problems. Quality audit should not
only report non-conformance and corrective action but also
highlight area of good practice and provide evidence of
conformance.

4) SCHEDULE-Q:-

Saudi Aramco minimum quality requirement for contractor quality


system.

Contractor shall implement a quality system as per schedule-Q


and with latest version of ISO 9001 such as quality system, quality
assurance design, development, production installation and
servicing.

Requirement for contractor have to implement and produce

Contractor quality system requirement, contractor quality plan,


personnel resources, management review, contractor quality
control requirement, procedure for non-conformance, quality
management report.

And also in schedule-Q there are given for personnel qualification,


certification and approval system such as contractor and sub-
contractor quality personnel quality requirement, standards and
procedure requirement, contractor supplied materials,
requirement for construction phase.

5) How to work as a Mechanical Inspector before starting of


project and after finishing of product/project.

STARTING OF PROJECT:-

a) Recruit and allocate inspection staff.


b) Review fabrication drawing.
c) Review WPSs, WPQRs, WQTs.
d) Prepare quality plan.
e) Witness and test WPSs and WPQRs.
f) Witness welder qualification test.
g) Visual inspection of first production welds

AFTER COMPLETION OF PRODUCT:

Before signing off the documents I should make enquiry which


can give me the insight in the past while product was being
manufactured.

a) What was the repair rate during manufactured?


b) How were the weather condition?
c) Weather any concession given if yes why?

These are question can clarified further to this I can start


reviewing the documents.

 Quality control plan ensure all the stages are completed and
signed off.
 Inspection checklist ensure all the stages are completed and
signed off.
 Verify material certificates such as mill test certificates etc.
 Verify the following procedure such as Welding, repair, NDT,
PWHT, Hardness, PMI, Hydro test, Coating/Painting.
 Verify the qualification level and validity of the welders and
NDT personals.
 Verify the inspection report of following discipline and
ensure that they cover all appropriate joints and structure
such as Visual, NDT, Dimensional etc.
 Verify the hardness test report.
 Verify that PMI inspection report.
 Verify the PWHT report/charts etc.
 Verify the Hydro test, pneumatic test report.
 Verify as build drawings are completed.
 Verify weld map are available for traceability.
 Verify name plate rubbing details are available.
 Verify the concession request site query etc.
 Verify permit to work.
 Verify painting/coating inspection reports.

As a part his own I may be obliged to witness final hydro test,


visual inspection of completed weld parts. As a matter of
quality assurance I may view some radiographs at random and
may even conduct radiographic audit.
