Overview Students will learn how to count money with different interactive activities.
2.7 The student will
a) count and compare a collection of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters

b) use the cent symbol, dollar symbol, and decimal point to write a value of
money.

Essential Questions How can you order coins to get the total value?

Objectives Students will be able to…master skip counting, find total values, and compare
Learning Target I can use pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters to count money.
Necessary Prior Students should know how to count by ones/skip count by 5, 10, & 25
other basic math skills (knowing values and sizes of coins?)

Materials coins - put different amounts of coins in ziplock bags
paper worksheet/pencils
Introduction/Hook Brainpop video or song

- will cover the following: review skip counting with the whole class &
Instructional introduce the new concept of identifying coins/counting money
Activities & Groups
Strategies - students will be split into groups/work with partners to touch the coins
and practice counting them (when they have the correct answer they will
switch bags with another group)

This concept will be continuously practiced throughout the week -
Assessments by the end of the week the students students will test
(something like Seesaw or another handout)
