Gabay ng Magulang/Tagapag-alaga
Isinulat ang modyul na ito bilang gabay ng mag-aaral
upang malinang ang kanyang aspetong akademiko, career,
personal at sosyal. Naka-disenyo ito para sa distance
learning o alternatibong pamamaraan ng pagkatuto na hindi
nangangailangan ng pisikal na presensya sa paaralan
bilang tugon sa direktiba na pagkansela ng face-to-face
class dulot ng pandemyang COVID-19.

Nilalayon ng modyul na matulungan ang mag-aaral


na malaman ang mga inaasahan at kinakailangang
kakayahan na dapat nilang taglayin, hubugin at paunlarin
upang maging matagumpay sa kanilang piniling karera sa
hinaharap.

Inaasahan namin ang inyong buong pusong


paggabay sa mag-aaral sa kanyang pagtupad sa mga
gawain. Mahalaga ang inyong paglahok sa ilang gawaing
itinakda upang maging bahagi ng kanilang sarili ang mga
aral na nais iparating ng modyul na ito. Kaugnay nito,
hinihiling namin na mabigyan ninyo sila ng oras sa tahanan
upang magampanan ang pagtupad sa bawat gawain. Ang
transpormasyong bunga ng kanilang pagkatuto ay maari
ninyong makita sa pamamagitan ng kanyang maayos na
pakikitungo sa loob at labas ng inyong tahanan.

For the learner:

Career choice is one of the lifetime decisions that you have to make in your life.
The challenge rests on making the decision as early as your age, yet its effect will lasts
your lifetime. Considering this huge task, it is of utmost importance that you take the
decision seriously and responsibly. This module aims at helping you gain broader
knowledge about career for you to be able to decide intelligently.

Work on the tasks seriously and seek help if you believe you need to. Take time
to work seriously and diligently on every task, the outcome will surely make you more
informed.

This self-learning module consists of six interactive tasks, which are as follows:

Learning Objectives

At the end of this module, you are expected to:

1. discover the skills and competencies that are needed to succeed in any
industry and profession;
2. affirm the decisions made for chosen career;
3. complete a career assessment sheet.

Suggested Total Time Allotment: Q3, Week 5 – 7


Materials Needed: sheets of paper/ bond papers, pen/pencil, any coloring
materials.

Let’s Review

In the previous module, you learned about your possible careers or professions
in the future and the connection of work, needs of the society and global economy.
You were also asked to plan ways to contribute to the desired profession/career, to the
society and to the global economy.

Introduction:

In this module, you will learn that choosing a career is one of the most important
decisions you will make in life. It is so much more than deciding what you will do to
make a living. Think about the amount of time your parents spend at work. Almost half
of their entire life is spent at work. That is why it is very important that your choice of
career should be given much thought.

Some people are lucky enough to know what they want to do and end up in
satisfying careers without giving it much thought, most of us are not. That is why it is
also very important to identify and assess your own skills and competencies that will
help you succeed in your chosen career.

Career Hunt

Are you familiar with the different industries where a broad category under which
several career titles can fall? Let us begin this module through a word hunt activity.
1. Identify the 15 Types of Industries that are included in the puzzle. Write your
answers on your HG notebook.
2. After which, answer the processing questions below.

2. Which of the industries will your chosen career fall under?
3. What is the importance of knowing the types of industries when planning for your
career?

Suggested Time allotment: 30 minutes

Wanted: Career!

Now that you have identified some of the different industries from the previous activity,
your task now is to relate it with your chosen career.

1. From the list of industries, you listed from the Career Hunt activity, choose one that
you are most interested to be part of in relation to your chosen career.
2. Identify at least three professions in your chosen industry and the qualifications, skills,
and competencies for the identified careers. You may search the information from the
internet, job listings or ask the help of your family members.
3. Copy and complete the activity on a sheet of paper.

Career planning is an ongoing process that can help you manage your learning
and development. Another important factor that will ensure your success will come from
having necessary set of skills and competencies that can be applied to any industry or
career. When you practice, develop, and enhance these skills, you will surely rise on top.
Read on to discover some of the essential skills and competencies that you need to
succeed in your chosen career.

1. Communication. Written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills are very
important in any industry. It also involves listening and being able to understand and
convey information.

2. Problem Solving. Being a good problem solver is essential because industries value
people who can work through challenges. When problem arises, you need to
demonstrate calmness under pressure, study the possible causes and choose the most
relevant solution.

3. Leadership. The ability to lead is especially important because it gives you the
opportunity for career progression. It is important to progress in your chosen career and
inspire, motivate, and empower others around you to do their best work as well.

4. Collaboration. Working in any industry will require you to work with others that is why
having the ability to work effectively as part of a team is also essential. It is vital for most
careers to work well together to achieve a share goal. It involves collaborating, sharing
knowledge and expertise, and contributing to successfully accomplish tasks.

5. Organizational Skills. In any industry, being organized is highly valued. Being able to
plan and organize your work well will help you to manage your time and be more efficient
and productive.

As you plan your career path, it’s important to identify the skills and competencies that
you have and improve them in order to prepare you and set yourself apart from others in a
competitive world of work.

Now that you are already aware of the skills and other qualifications about the
different professions in the industry related to your career choice, you need to identify
now your own skills, interest and future career plans.

1. Accomplish the Career Assessment Sheet by answering the given questions for
each item.
2. Copy and complete the activity on a sheet of paper.

“Career Reflection”

As a Grade 10 student, you will be making a major decision in choosing your


career. It is important to reflect to have a clear view of your career plan.

1. Copy and complete the activity on a clean sheet of paper.


2. Draw a circle and divide it in four part. Then, accomplish the task for each
quadrant.

Share your Thoughts & Feelings

Suggested Time Allotment: 30 minutes

Your family have a great influence in your choice of career. They


are considered as one of your influencers when it comes to career decision making.
Invite your family members for a “kwentuhan” session. Discuss with parents and other
family members about your possible profession in the future. Ask them what they will
recommend to you? You may also consider asking them on what career or profession
they would want you to pursue.
