1. Write an essay about the topic: “How Robots Can Take Over Humanity”
Humans are increasingly relying on robots, which are constantly evolving. They
serve a variety of purposes, ranging from simple task to manufacturing. It makes people's
lives easier. They are used in restaurants, law enforcement, medicine, education, security,
around the home, and even making coffee.

Humans create robots to assist them in completing tasks that are both time-
consuming and dangerous. A robot's capabilities are determined by the purpose for which it
was designed. We can easily say that it gradually taking over different activity that usually
do by a person or an individual. It is also said that robots are more precise and can do the
work in a short period of time than human.

Scientist, researchers and experts predicted that the usage of robot will expand
and in the near future robots are going to be more advance. They are saying that there will
be a flying car or even a robot that can act like human. We cannot deny that robots have a
huge part in the life of human being and in the industry around the world. However, while
robots slowly taking the task that usually do by human, it also has a negative impact in the
life of human and even in the economy.

In the industry, for example, more companies are producing programmable

robots that can complete tasks in a short period of time and thus increase production.
Although it will be of great assistance to the company, the number of employees will be
reduced as a result. They will only require a few people to control and inspect the robots.
The negative impact of technological advancement is the loss of jobs and reduced
opportunities caused by robots. In a simple term, it is demonstrated that robots are truly
taking over humanity.

In my perception, it is acceptable to have an advancement or to use robots to

make our lives easier. I understand that technological advancement plays a significant role
in our generation. However, we must consider factors such as the one I mentioned earlier.
A more advanced robot may also be more expensive and require more
maintenance. Some people may be unable to afford the cost of a more advanced robot, and
only those who are financially stable or have a greater ability to purchase it will be able to
do so.

As the power and capacity of computers continues to expand, revolution is being

created in the field of robotics. Imagination is combined with technology. It would not be
wrong to say that in near future there will be a time when robots will become smarter than
the human race.

2. State at least three examples for each of the following:

a. Automation with no Robotics

 Email Marketing
The software can be set up to send a follow-up email days later to only
those who opened the original email, with no need for anyone on your team to do
anything. With minimal effort, you can use these automation tools to create
relatively sophisticated email marketing campaigns.

 Chatbots

These consumer-facing tools automate typical customer service

interactions, responding to inquiries immediately and referring customers to a
representative only when the chatbot is unable to handle their needs. A chatbot
could handle up to 80% of customer service interactions, allowing businesses to
significantly reduce costs associated with traditional customer service.

 Hiring process

Automated hiring tools can sift through applications at breakneck speed,

searching for specific keywords to quickly identify the best candidates among
thousands of applicants. According to CareerBuilder, 71% of employers believe
automated applicant tracking software has improved the candidate experience. AI
is used in automated hiring and recruitment tools such as Mya, Smashfly, and
BreezyHR to significantly reduce hiring time and speed up the screening process.
b. Automation that uses Robotics

 Spot welding Robots

The most common welding application in the manufacturing

industry is robotic spot welding, which is a type of resistance welding.
When thin metals resist an electrical current, it joins them together.

Spot welding automation is a quick, simple, and cost-effective

solution. These robots save a variety of floor space, which is why so many
automotive manufacturing companies have incorporated them into their
plants. Automated spotwelding robot systems will provide the company
with consistent welds while also improving product quality.

 Robotic Automation for Paint Performance Testing

High-performance industrial robots with six axes of freedom allow

manufacturers to spray paint and other coatings on flat coupons and speed
shapes of all sizes. Furthermore, the ability to spray curved shapes
contributes to more realistic results for the paint or coating being used.

Also, Robots are ideal for use on test coupons and speed shapes
because they are consistent and have few overspray issues.

 Arc welding

Arc welding is a continuous process in which the welding rod is

moved along the seam to be welded by the robot.

c. Robotics without Automation

 Stick vacuum cleaner

A stick model is slim and lightweight, and it is ideal for quick

cleaning. It is shaped like a broom and has a simple design that makes it
easy to store. The motor runs along the stick and provides light suction.
This model is ideal for maneuvering around furniture and in tight spaces. It
can be used to clean small carpeted areas as well as hardwood floors.
It also has a setting for cleaning bare floors that turns off the
brush roll. It can be converted into a handheld vacuum and comes with
fewer attachments. Instead of bags, there are dirt cups. It is not very
powerful and should not be used for deep cleaning. It may have a shorter
battery life than other types.

 Remote control cars

Remote control cars are suitable for children aged 4 and up and
will keep them entertained for several hours. These cars are miniature
models of cars that children see on the streets, and they are very popular
among children because they give them the impression that they, too, have
a car of their own.

 Remote Control Dog Robot Toys

It is a robot with remote There are two modes in which you can
play the dog. Infrared remote control with a 33-foot control range. The
robot dog can easily move forward, backward, turn left, and turn right. Toy
robots that are ideal for toddlers.

3. The Association Francaise de Robotique (AFR) has the following classification of robots:
Type A: handling devices with manual control to telerobotics; Type B: automatic
handling devices with predetermined cycles; Type C: programmable, servo controlled
robots with continuous or point-to-point trajectories; and Type D: same as C but with
capability to acquire information from its environment. Name and explain at least one
example for each type, and provide illustration/s.

Type A: handling devices with manual control to telerobotics

The technical term for remote control of a robot is telerobotics. In a telerobotic system, a
human operator controls the robot's movements from a distance. Signals are sent to the robot
to control it; other signals are returned, informing the operator that the robot followed the
instructions. Telemetry refers to these control and return signals.
Example: Shuttle Remote Manipulator System (RMS)

The Remote Manipulator System (RMS),

also known as Canadarm, is a mechanical arm
located in the cargo bay. This arm can be
controlled by a payload specialist via the
orbiter's flight controls on the flight deck. The
fifty-foot arm has three joints that resemble a
shoulder, elbow, and wrist. Its hand is known
as an end effector.

Type B: automatic handling devices with predetermined cycles

Example: Microlab VANTAGE liquid-handling system

It provides three platforms for automation.

These were designed to meet any sample
throughput and workflow requirements,
particularly in upstream sequencing
preparation steps.

The Microlab VANTAGE liquid-handling

system is one of Hamilton's most recent
products. This platform, along with its
INSTINCT V software, transports labware automatically and manages all consumable
calculations, such as the number of tips and tip racks, as well as reagent and buffer volumes.

Type C: programmable, servo controlled robots with continuous or point-to-point

trajectories

Numerical control is a type of programmable automation in which a machine is controlled

by numbers (and other symbols) stored on punched paper tape or another storage medium.
Example: CNC Machine

CNC machining is a
process in which factory machinery and
tools are moved according to pre-
programmed computer software. As a
result, manufacturers can produce parts in
less time, waste is reduced, and the risk of
human error is eliminated.

This manufacturing process

is used to control a wide range of
complex machinery, as discussed in this
article. CNC machining, in essence, allows three-dimensional cutting to be completed by
following a single set of prompts.

Type D: same as C but with capability to acquire information from its environment

Intelligent robotics refers to robots that function as intelligent machines, that is, they
can be programmed to take actions or make decisions based on sensor input.

Example: Humanoid Robots

Humanoid robots are

service robots designed to mimic human
motion and interaction. They, like all
service robots, add value by automating
tasks in a way that leads to cost savings
and increased productivity. Humanoid
robots are a newer type of professional
service robot. They've long been a pipe
dream, but they're finally becoming commercially viable in a variety of applications.

One of the popular humanoid robots is Sophia. Hanson's invention Sophia is a cutting-
edge social-learning robot. Sophia can communicate effectively with natural language and
use facial expressions to convey human-like emotions thanks to AI.
