Information for International Applicants
Under the UK Visas and Immigration regulations students from certain countries will need a student visa to enter the UK, and both
the student and the University will need to comply with specific immigration rules. Please visit the following website to find out if you
need a visa and for further information about the visa application process: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/ukvisas
andimmigration. International students who have indicated in their application that they require a visa will be issued with the
required Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) for their visa application after they have accepted this offer and met all the
conditions listed above, including paying a compulsory deposit (where applicable). CAS's are typically generated no earlier than
90 days before the start of your course.
International students can find prearrival and other useful information on our International Student Support website:
http://www.bristol.ac.uk/internationaloffice/studentsupport/. If you would like further information about the language programmes at
the University of Bristol you can find details at http://www.bris.ac.uk/languagecentre/efl/summer/presessional.html.
Programme Deposit
If you are an international student applying for a taught programme, and will be paying your tuition fees yourself, you are required
to pay a compulsory deposit. You will be required to pay a minimum of £1000 but may pay up to the full cost of the tuition fee for the
first year. The deadline for the payment of the deposit is 1 August, however you are encouraged to pay your deposit as early as
possible. The payment of a deposit is likely to ease your application for a visa. The appropriate support for your visa application will
not be issued by the University until this deposit has been paid. Students whose fees are being paid by an external organisation or
sponsor (for example, a government department, company or charity) are not required to pay a deposit. The organisation paying
your fees will be invoiced and requested to pay the full fee once you have registered on the programme of study.
You can pay this deposit online at http://bris.ac.uk/onlinepayments/deposits using a credit or debit card. Alternatively you can pay
through our PaytoStudy account at http://www.bristol.ac.uk/paytostudy. PaytoStudy is an international payment solution which offers
competitive exchange rates. Where PaytoStudy has a local bank account, all wire fee charges will be eliminated and you will be
able to pay in your local currency to a local bank account.
The deposit is nontransferable and nonrefundable except under the circumstances outlined in the International Deposits Refund
Policy which is available at http://www.bris.ac.uk/academicregistry/office/policies/idrp.html. You may pay your deposit in advance of
meeting the conditions of your offer. If you subsequently fail to meet the conditions attached to your offer and are therefore rejected
from your course on academic grounds then a refund will be made to you. To make the payment you will need your student number
which is 1760289.
