Minutes of the 2/08 Wardroom Meeting of Southernwaves Sea Scout Ship held on 22 nd
Jun 2008, Sunday at 1st Dog watch 3bells at Nanyang Community Centre.

The meeting was called to order at 1738hrs. Skipper informed that this meeting is a rescheduled
session as the Wardroom was unable to meet for the 13th Apr 08 meeting.

1 Confirmation of last minutes
The last minutes were proposed as correct by the Coxswain.

2 Matters arising
(a) Skipper updated the Wardroom that the registration for the crew has Purser
been done. Payments are to be settled by end of June 2008. Coxswain and
Boatswain are to ensure that their Unit has the registration fee paid to the
Ship Purser respectively.

(b) Service Learning sharing session will be held on the 26th July 2008 in Tristan
line with Project Rigel’s camp staff brief. Delegates from the Ship whom Kenneth
are involved in Thailand youth forum and/or Korea World Scout Keng Hee
Conference are to conduct a sharing session as well.
(c) With regards to the Batam Kayaking Expedition that is scheduled in 1st Mate
June 2008, due budget allocation to the recent Thailand Youth Forum it will
be re-packaged and postpone to a later date.

(d) NOA format to be reformatted and updated by the next Wardroom. Skipper

(e) The Wardroom has agreed that the personal kit is to be compiled by Coxswain
coxswain and the relevant budget proposed to the Wardroom by July 2008.

3 Matters from
(a) Community: 1st Mate reported that the Ship has taken part in a recent
Dragonboat Competition held at Juong Lake; this is in support of Nayang
Community Centre.

1st Mate also informed the Wardroom that one of the Nanyang zone RC is
setting up a Lion Dance Troop. Anyone interested in the above mentioned is
to contact 1st Mate.

(b) TSSA: Skipper reported that it is the donation draw ticket period. AVSL Kenneth
and Rover Kenneth have assisted in the collection of the donation draw
tickets which are to be returned back for consolidation on the 10th August
2008. Dateline for HQ submission is on the 16th August 2008. Skipper
appointed Rover Kenneth as the point of contact for the above mentioned.

Skipper required the Unit Leaders to return the tickets completely sold as Unit Leaders
the Crew did not participate in the earlier Jobweek. Unit Leaders should Kenneth
collect the tickets with the money by 10th Aug 08. PO Kenneth will
consolidate the returns to HQ.

4 Council appointment reports


(a) Programme: 1st Mate reported that there are very few internal 1st Mate
programmes for the Ship for the month of June, main events participated are
district camps/events.

1st Mate informed the Wardroom that the rover programme will be self-
running by the Rover Unit and supporting the Ship’s events. He also
requested from the Boatswain, the compilation of individual venture’s Boatswain
schedule by the 25th June 2008 for the projection and planning of
trainings/programme for the Venture Unit.

Both Skipper and 1st Mate added that the Ventures should train themselves
and impart the knowledge on Life-saving 1, 2, and 3 amongst each other in
line with the upcoming bronze medallion training.

(b) Yeoman: Nil. Not Available.

(c) Purser: Purser is unable to report as of June 2008. Will be updated at Purser
next Wardroom
(d) Petty Officer (Community Involvement): Rover Tristan presented his Tristan
Approval Of Plan for CSSP to the Wardroom.
(Refer to Annex A )

(e) Petty Officer (Recruitment): Skipper has requested PO Kenneth to start Kenneth
recruitment planning immediately. Recruitment plan is to be presented to
the Wardroom at its next meeting.

5 Youth sections reports


(a) Venture: Boatswain reported that the unit is currently much disorganized
and lacking in attendance for programme planned. This is due to most of the
members involved in their examination commitments.

(b) Rover: Coxswain reported that 6 ventures will cross-over to the rover
unit by the end of the year. Skipper requested that this is to be kept in view.

Coxswain also reported that due to the entry of the ventures into the rover
unit, the current batch of rovers needs to be proficient in their required skill
set. Hence, the current batch of rovers will be involved in training
themselves in preparation of the above mentioned.

Coxswain presented the new hierarchy system for the rover unit. The
hierarchy system is approved by the Wardroom and is to be carried out by
the rover unit with effect from 22nd June 2008.

6 Upcoming and current projects update

Rover Kenneth reported that the rover crew is planning Project Rigel 2008,
with Rover Kenneth as the Project Director. The project will see close
working relation with Palendok Scouts Group and external party, Jody Tan.
Skipper required all Crew to give its full support for this project.

7 Any other business


(a) Boatswain informed that the diving orientation planned to be held in Boatswain
May 2008 lacks participants to be conducted at a reasonable price. Hence, it
has been postpone to a later date.

8 Date of next meeting


There was no other business and the meeting ended at Last Dog Watch
3bells, 1940hrs.

The next meeting will be held on the 19th July 2008
