 Marikina City is located inside Marikina Valley and is flanked on the west by Quezon City and the Marikina River, on the south by Pasig
City and Cainta, on the east by Antipolo City, and on the north by San Mateo.
 Marikina River is a tributary of the Pasig River, having its origins in Rodriguez, Rizal's Sierra Madre Mountains.
 The riverbank has an elevation of 8 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.) at the boundary of San Mateo and Marikina. This slowly goes down
at an elevation of 4 m.a.s.l. before the Brgy. Malanday and Brgy. Santo Niño boundary in Marikina City. The lowest elevation is along
Brgy. Calumpang, Marikina City which is 2.0 m above sea level.
 During the Spanish colonial era, the Marikina River was an important transit route, but its value as a transport route waned as the
Philippines' national highway system grew more established.

in Pansol and U.P. Campus in Diliman to its western terminus at Quirino Highway in Baesa and Talipapa in Novaliches, crossing Barangays
Culiat, New Era, Pasong Tamo, Tandang Sora, and Sangandaan.

 The section of the avenue east of Commonwealth Avenue is a national secondary road with the route designation N129; it is also part of

 The route destinations through N129 (Congressional Avenue Extension) are as follows: Cenacle Drive, Glenn Street, Allan Bean Street,
Cassanova Drive, Union Avenue, Armstrong Street, San Ponciano Street, D. Reynaldo Street.

 Tandang Sora Avenue was called after the community of Tandang Sora where it is located. In response, the neighborhood was renamed
Talipapa in 1952 in honor of Filipina hero Melchora Aquino.
 Prior to the establishment of Quezon City in 1938, these territories were part of Marikina and Caloocan proper, and there were
numerous tiny barrios built around the region.
 These locations were also significant transit routes for the Katipunan Revolutionaries (1896-1898), who were attempting to evade the
Spanish authorities.

 Quirino Highway, originally known as the Manila-del Monte Garay Road or Ipo Road, is a 4- to 8-lane highway in Quezon City,
Philippines.
 It is a significant route in Metro Manila and is part of Radial Road 7 (R-7), Radial Road 8 (R-8), and Radial Road 9 (R-9) (R-8).
 The Quirino Highway begins in Norzagaray, Bulacan and travels via San Jose del Monte City, Malaria, Pangarap, and Lagro in Caloocan,
Novaliches, C5-Road, Tandang Sora, and terminates in Quezon City on the Balintawak Cloverleaf of North Luzon Expressway.
 There are now a few retail malls across the highway, the most well-known of which being SM City Fairview, Robinson's Nova Market
(previously Robinson's Place Novaliches), and Ayala Fairview Terraces, which serves residents of Novaliches, Caloocan, and San Jose del
Monte, Bulacan.
 Within the city limits of Quezon City, the route is classified as National Route 127 (N127) of the Philippine highway network, Radial Road
7 (R-7), and a spur of Radial Road 8 (R-8) of Metro Manila's arterial road network.
