Abstract
The report is about the area called Aundh, in the city of Pune and the Urban change it
went through the span of 17 years. There are many factors which contributes to the
ultimate change in the city scape and mostly all these changes take place gradually. For
the city of Pune, the main driving force was the setup of IT industries. The reports talk
about how all the additions to the area attracted one another and now presents a
totally different picture then it was 17 years ago. It shows graphical satellite images of
the city and how it grew and changed spatially.

PUNE CITY
Pune is the second-largest city in the state of Maharashtra after Mumbai, and is an important city in
terms of its economic and industrial growth. Once the hometown of Marathas and a centre of power
for the Maratha Empire, Pune’s rich and glorious past has made it the cultural capital of Maharashtra.
Home to many colleges and universities, Pune has made its mark as an education epicenter, winning
itself the title of “The Oxford of the East”. Pune has emerged as a new start-up hub in recent years with
information technology (IT), engineering and automotive companies sprouting. The city is also known
for cultural activities such as classical music, spirituality, theatre, sports and literature.

Aundh
Introduction
Aundh is an upscale, affluent neighborhood in the city of Pune, Maharashtra. It has developed
significantly as a residential area and today, the area has become one of the best and up-market areas
in the city.
The residential real-estate prices in this area have seen a huge uptrend which has been largely driven
by the demand coming from IT professionals as well as migrants from various parts of the country
Its proximity to the Mumbai-Pune express way and connectivity to Shivaji Nagar, makes it preferable
to reside there than other parts of the city.

Aundh is a popular hangout destination for the cosmopolitan crowd of Pune. The area is also a major
hub for business as there are many companies, high end showrooms, high end health clubs and
recreational outlets like shopping malls.
With its close proximity to schools in and around the area, Aundh offers an array of activity centers for
children of various age groups. This place has come to be a self-sustained locality, and it wouldn't be
wrong to compare it to other suburban areas across the nation. Aundh is one of the best residential
areas in Pune like Koregaon Park can be termed as the best commercial area in Pune. The area today
is among the most plush and upmarket in the city, owing to extremely high real-estate prices. The area
is amongst the first choice for metropolitan people from different states and countries owing to the
self-sufficiency.

Evolution of the area
Numerous automobile manufacturers and ancillary companies have invested heavily in Pune, setting
up state-of-the-art production facilities. Among the first movers in this segment were Tata Motors and
Cummins, a leading manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engines, followed in recent years by
Mercedes-Benz and construction and farm-equipment company JCB.
There are more than 30 industries in just IT sector which have their offices and headquarters in and
around Aundh. With the growing demand, Aundh is also home to marketing, architecture and Interior,
Finance and economic sector and many startups.

These growth of industries was very rapid after the year 2006. These markets with
them attracted a lot of migrants who then wanted t settle near their offices. That
resulted in hike in real estate and housing sector.

The housing sector of Aundh became very vibrant part of the city. With its perfect mixure of High rise
buildings and modern bunglows it started attracted residents all over the city. With the growing
housing demands planners realized that it would be the best time to promote greenery in the area and
prevent this lively area from becoming another concrete jungle.

Till this date Aundh is still attracting residents not only because of his attractive housing
provisions but the green and peaceful environment that it offers with it.

With Real estate and Industries as magnet it was obvious that recreational services like
shopping malls, ecomerce shops, restaurants and cafes, banks and other markets will
folow.

CONCLUSION:

The area of Aundh did not expanded much spacially but the area changed drastically in terms of spacial
context. Area which was once a calm residential area transformed into a planned mixed land used city
ward. IT development brought various opportunities to the ward and now is a vibrant part of the city.
