Reflections:
It was my first class. I was very excited for the class. I was to start the topic ‘Story Writing’
which itself was a very interesting topic. After successful transaction of the class, I found
that I was very poor at managing the time, though there was discipline in the class. Learners
were excited to listen to the YouTube stories and they were eager to answer all my
questions. Overall, the class was good. I could see that learners were using their experiences
too while answering the questions.
Also, I could notice that the cognitive level of the class was good. Also, learners were able to
speak fluently in English. Few students were facing issues which I was able to identify.
Overall, it was a nice experience.

Reflections:
In today’s class I was able to work slightly on my transaction speed. I delivered what I had
planned. I could feel that which areas I need to restrict myself. I found that in some areas I
was explaining things unnecessarily or was giving an extra time for discussion which was
obviously consuming class time.
I was able to work slightly on this issue.
By the way, on other areas I could feel that few more learners were participating those who
were hesitating in the previous class.

that is there in the question is actually a theme of the story or not. (The story is same, ‘The
Greedy Landowner’ that they were asked to watch as a home task)
Note: if some of them will fail to recall then the starting of the story will be initiated by me

Reflections:
It was a third day since I was taking class and the regular teacher intertwined saying to the
class, “Who should teach today sir or I?” and to this all the learners said that ma’am sir
should continue and this made the regular teacher bit uneased. I was there and I was also
thinking that now how should I handle the situation. But then I said to the class that It’s
okay to be guided by two teachers at a time and I somehow ended this situation and started
transacting.
Here I could focus that it’s not like who is a good teacher and who is a bad teacher. Every
teacher has a different teaching strategy and style. So, it was not a good idea to compare.

questions like:

Q1 Are you able to see different characters of the story?

Q2 Can you see the different settings of the story?
Q3 Are you able to tell what is going in the story?
Q4 Isn’t it difficult to understand the story without being narrated by someone?

After this I will show them the slide and will ask them to read about ‘narrator’ and his job in
any story.
Link:
https://1drv.ms/p/s!AoT_W6JcmZLPj0C7517Mes8rdv9?e=21jzDX

After this I will ask them to read few lines of three different stories and will ask them to
guess, ‘who is the narrator of the story’
These pictures will be shown to them in form of PPT. After they have finished reading each
picture, I will ask them who is narrating here. Link: https://1drv.ms/p/s!
AoT_W6JcmZLPjzmlQGHnFPz1U8m0?e=ss Fqx9

After this the learners will be asked to read a different version of the same story (that has

service. So, do you still think that shopkeeper was greedy?

Now they will be asked to differentiate that how narrating style changes the point of view of
the events that are presented.

They again will be shown the slide to let them read and understand “Point of View’ in story.

My Reflection:
It was the last day for the topic and I could see the same spirit in the learners. But I
found a problem, in class they were participating but as I used to give them Home-
Work, I could see only few of them used to do it sincerely. I talked about this issue
with the regular teacher and she assured me that she would help.
Here, I could understand the importance of negotiation skills that if we don’t
negotiate in a school environment, we would suffer a lot.

My Reflection:
I started a new topic. This was a prose this time. I transacted the class but again this
time my time management was a big issue. I took too much time for the introduction
part only, which impacted my overall planning. I was not able to transact as it was
planned.
Also, since it was a new experience for the learners, I couldn’t blame them even. The
links that I was providing them to access was accessible by some and some were
facing issues using it. Then I had to explain them that how they are supposed to use a
particular tool.
I realized that Covid brought new challenges in learning though it was an opportunity
as well. I found the students technologically not that much sound may be because the
regular teachers were not using the tools that I was using in the class.

My Reflection:
In today’s class I could see an improvement in the performance of the class. There were more
submissions of home task. But yet, out of fifty students only 15-20 used to participate. Even when
I used to call the names of the students to participate, they never used to speak in the class. I
talked about this issue with the teacher and I too started to ponder over this problem to sort it
out and increase participation in the class.

My Reflection:
In the previous class I was thinking how to increase participation in the class and I came up with
the idea of “Participation Certificate” and “Student of the day certificate”.
I utilized this idea in today’s class and I could see a considerable amount of change in
participation. New students were participating in the class and every one was ready to take part
in the class.
I could see that how sometimes students need extrinsic motivation to take part in class actively
and specially in Online classes where there is no direct face to face communication.

Q1 Why Montmorency was behaving in that way?
Q2 How was three of them feeling at Montmorency?
Q3 What made the author worried?
Q4 Who among the four was creating more mess?

Learners will be shown a pic where there will be a fully loaded suitcase and I would want
them to pack one last thing, an inflated balloon. So, I would ask them how to do that? (Any
random learner can be asked)

Picture:
3rd Pic

So here I will show them that how the contracted form saves our time and efforts.
So, relating the concept I will show them a slide where there will be sentences with some
words in contracted form and then they will be asked to read the sentence. (The learners
will be asked those words first which they are familiar with, like can’t means Cannot, isn’t
means is not etc.)
Like:
I can’t do this.
Then
I cannot do this.

Then they will be asked to notice that how use of apostrophe contracts the words.
After this they will be asked to play a game where there will be words with their contracted
form and they would have to opt the correct uncontracted form an vice versa.

Home Task
They will be asked to find some more words (at least 5) that are contracted using
apostrophes and note down them in the padlet link with one sentence for each word.

My Reflections:
I could see that the extrinsic motivation factor was working well. Today few more new
students were taking part in class and it made me really happy.
Even the regular teacher asked me to share the certificate with her she was very happy that
class was taking part actively.

After they have watched the video, they will be asked few questions like:
1. What would happen if we cut a tree that had consumed resources for years and years?
2. How many cuts do you think will be sufficient to cut a tree?
If we get a cut we bleed. So, what would happen to a tree if one cuts it?

After this, learners will be asked to play a Wordwall game and through this they will be able

After this to help them get the global meaning of the poem I will ask them Some Global
Comprehension Questions:
Q1 what is the name of the poet and poem?
Q2 How has the tree grown to its full size?
Q3 What has been referred as ‘not enough’ to kill a tree?
Q4 What is the way suggested in the poem to kill a tree?
Q5 After uprooting who will help the tree to wither and die?

Home Task
Learners will be asked to draw a picture of a tree in a white sheet then they will be asked to
write one sentence in speech bubble (that the tree would love to speak as a message)
keeping the scenario in mind where a greedy person is cutting it.
Then they will click the photo of the same and upload it on the padlet link.

Reflections:
It was the first time when I was taking a poetry in the class for transacting. I was pretty much
sure that I will take the topic actively and will give students different ways of interpretation.
Though in today’s class I started the topic and took extra time for intro part only and
couldn’t transact the whole plan.
Today’s class helped me to restrict myself in introduction part and not to stretch it much.

My Reflection:
In today’s class learners were looking bit exhausted and so I didn’t start the class
directly. I asked them a very funny question and then I started receiving very funny
replies.
This made them be active and then I successfully transacted the class.
Today’s class helped me to understand that a teacher will have to be ready with some
activities and games to help so that when it is required a teacher use them
successfully.

General Objectives:
Learners will be able to:
❖ Enhance their reading skills.

❖ Enhance their speaking skills.

❖ Write effectively.

❖ Enhance their listening skills.

❖ Use grammar effectively.

Specific Objectives
Learners will be:
 Able to understand how Articles play the role of determiners.
 Able to understand how Articles specify objects, places etc.
 Able to understand the use of demonstrative words.
 Able to understand how demonstratives play the role of determiners
 Able to use the concepts learnt in their daily conversation

Methodology:
Class will start with the discussion of the home task. Some responses will be shared in the
class.
After this, learners will be asked to tell the meaning of the term ‘specify’ and after their
responses they will be shown some sentences in whiteboard.
Sentences:
It’s doll.
It’s a doll.
It’s the doll that we had lost yesterday.
After this, learners will be asked to tell which one of these three sentences is wrong and
why?
After this I will ask them, what change did the use of Articles (a/an/the) bring to the
sentences.
After this with few more examples they will be helped to understand between definite and
indefinite articles and how use of articles modifies a noun.

After this they will be asked to fill a worksheet using articles.

Link: https://learningapps.org/watch?v=pgs8ft5pj21

After this, learners will be asked the meaning of the term ‘demonstrate’.
Here they will be asked to share some experiences of their life when they fail to find/do
something and then mom or dad demonstrates them doing or helping them find something
that they were searching.
Just for initiation I can give them an example like:
Mom: There it is, can’t you see that?

Link: https://padlet.com/santoshsirsep/o86ti5ccxbzncobo
Learners will be responding in the padlet link.

Then they will be shown a picture.

After this, they will be asked to make some sentences using them.

After this, they will be asked to make some sentences using them.

After this, few sentences will be written on white board and then they will be asked to tell
the differences between the two.
Like:
This is my camera.
This camera is mine.

That is your bag.

That bag is yours.

I will ask them to focus on the terms ‘this’ and ‘that’ and then will ask out of these 4
sentences which sentences are having a noun word after demonstratives like this and that.

Then they will be asked to recall the definition of ‘Determiners’ and then they will be asked
that which of the examples fulfill the rule stated there.
After this they will be helped to understand that how simply the use of this, that, these and
those doesn’t guarantee that it has been used a determiner. Sometimes they can also be
used as a demonstrative pronoun.
(For all this white board will be used)

Reflections:
Today’s class was bit inductive but yet I need to improve on many areas. I had used
some pictures as well in today’s class but I realized that they were not that much
sufficient. I was using the white board as well and was giving them space to produce
their examples which I think there could have been a way to do it otherwise.
I hope to improve in the next class.

Class will start with the discussion of the home task. While discussing I will ask them the
definition of determiner and in the sentences given in the quiz where they can find a
determiner.
https://wordwall.net/resource/25508562
After this, learners will be asked the meaning of the term ‘Possession’ and they will be asked
to frame sentences showing possession of something.
I can give them an example to let them start like:
It is my bag.
Link: https://padlet.com/santoshsirsep/o86ti5ccxbzncobo

They will be sharing their responses in the padlet link.

Then, learners will be shown some sentences.

This is my house.
That is your pen.
That is his notebook.
This is her diary.
After this, learners will be asked to identify the noun terms in all the sentences and then a
question will be asked that would happen if we remove my, your, his and her?
Second question that I will ask:
What additional details my, your, his an her add to their respective noun terms?
Now again they will be shown the slide having definition of determiner written and will ask if
possessives satisfy the rule of determiner.

Now they will be shown a picture where there will different sort of possessives ‘Pronoun
Possessives’ and will ask them to read it quickly.
Then, they will be shown the same examples used above in a different way using possessive
pronoun.
This house is mine.
That pen is yours.
This notebook is his.
This diary is hers.

Now learners will be asked to read these sentences one by one.

After this they will asked to locate the noun terms and possessive terms.

After this they will be asked to recall where do we use determiners, ahead of a noun or at
the back of a noun.

After this they will be asked to identify that which set of examples were fulfilling this rule.
After this they will be asked which possessive according to them then serves as a
determiner.

After this will be shown a list of these quantifiers.

After this, learners will be shown some sentences

Few people are dancing.
He knows more people than us.
He has many contacts.

Now they will be asked to read all these sentences closely and find the noun terms.
After this I will ask them to remove the word used before the noun term and read the
sentences once again.
People are dancing.
He knows people than us.
He has contacts.

Firstly, I will ask which of these sentences sounds grammatically wrong.

Then, I will ask what are the terms few, more and many doing here.
Then I will ask them to recall the definition and condition to be a determiner.

Class: IX Duration: 50 minutes
Subject: English No. of Learners: 50
Topic: Modal Verbs (Grammar) School: AG DAV, Model Town

General Objectives:
Learners will be able to:
❖ Enhance their reading skills.

❖ Enhance their speaking skills.

❖ Write effectively.

❖ Enhance their listening skills.

❖ Use grammar effectively.

Specific Objectives
Learners will be:
 Introduced with the Grammar Topic ‘Modal Verbs’.
 Able to understand the use of particular modal verbs for showing ‘ability’
 Able to create sentences of daily use.
Methodology:

Class will start by asking learners the meaning of the terms like Ability, Possibility, Advice,
Permission, certainty, obligation, necessity etc.
After this, I will show them an animated video on modal verbs on YouTube. Before they start
watching the video, I will ask them to watch it carefully and focus on the ‘sentences’ and the
‘red colored words’ used there.
Link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFLmd4C6VHU

While they will be watching the video, I will stop the video in between then will ask like
what sense does ‘the sentence’ give to them whether showing ability, probability, certainty
etc.
For example

Here I will ask them to guess.

Here I can also change ‘Can’ with will and can ask now how does it sense.
After this I will show them the lists of words that we will cover one by one deeply under the
topic Modal Verbs.
I will show them various examples using pictures.
For example

Rekha CAN play chess.

Before showing them the above example, I can ask them to imagine if we have 4 members
in a group named Rohit, Sumit, Reshma and Rekha and only Rekha knows about chess.
So, if a teacher asks you for a person who can play chess, then how would you reply?
Here I can also ask them why we are saying ‘Rekha can’ what would happen if we start
saying by ‘Rekha may play chess’.

Similarly various other examples will be shown to them.

Rohan can solve the query.

Mamta can win a gold for India.
Sonu can pass the test easily.
Now for past ability too I will deal like this.
Sentences:
I could goal easily when I was five.

Rekha could win the match.

Now Learners will be asked to frame some sentences in the padlet wall.

Reflections:
Today’s class was inductive and I have included YouTube video too to help learners introduce the topic.
The learners found that the tasks interesting but they told me that they are too many activities for one class. I
also felt the same. I think I need to keep simple and effective rather than putting in so many activities for one
class.
I decided here at this point that from the very next class when I will introduce learners new topic, I will give
them less tasks to do so that don’t feel burdensome the first day.

My Reflection:
In today’s class children were not taking part. Even after calling the names, I couldn’t hear anyone
saying anything. Even the regular teacher intertwined but still we get no response. Only there
were one or two students who were responding.
Even I tried to include a game but yet no response.
I struggled in today’s class a lot and was very disappointed with the class.
But after the class, regular teacher called me and said that they have competitions in school may
be that was the reason they were not taking part actively I the class.
Well, I realized here that there can be some days when our learners will not be willing to take part
in class doesn’t matter whatever we plan for them.

In today’s class too I couldn’t see active participation and then to make the
learning environment pleasant I asked them to do some small yoga steps to let
them feel relieved from their work. I asked them to close their eyes and put
hands on it for two minutes.
Then I asked them to share their experiences that how did they feel.

Many learners then came forward to share their responses.

After that somehow, I was able to transact the class as I had known that they are
busy with some school competition work.

After this all the sentence patterns will be shown to them in slide so that they can take a
note. They can also be asked to think for other patterns.
For example:
When they are certain:
He must be 10 years old.
He must have been 10 years old.
He can’t be 10 years old.
He will be 10 years old.

When they are trying to show possibility:

He may be 10 years old.

He might be 10 years old.
He can be 10 years old.
He might have been 10 years old.
He could be 10 years old.

First learners will be asked the difference between obligation and advice. After this, learners

My Reflection:
As in the last few classes students were not responding I had come with a strong positive attitude
that today they will be given such activities which will compel them to take part in class.
I had come with ‘best performer of the class certificate’. But today student on their own were
taking part and when asked they said that they are done with competitions now.
It made me realize that how extra work, impacts students’ performance in other subjects.
This made me think that at such time home work must not be given and if given then such a task
should be given that don’t make them feel burdensome.

My Reflection:
I think while explaining a few things I would have given better explanations.
I think I need to work on few things especially, explaining the grammar rules to the learners. I will
definitely work on this.
One more thing that I was able to notice that while making things inductive I was giving them so
many tasks which definitely needs to be reduced.

it or have heard someone using it.
After getting their responses I will show them some sentences using the modal verb dare.
I dare not look at the bill.
Dare you say what you're thinking?
The police dare not approach the building.

After this, they will also be familiarized with a different pattern of sentence where dare is
not used as a modal verb.
I don't dare (to) look at the bill.
Do you dare (to) say what you're thinking?
The police didn't dare to approach the building.

Here I can ask the learners to point out the changes that has been made if we are not using
dare as a modal verb.
After this I will tell them how we start using helping verbs when we don’t use are as a modal
verb.

After this, learners will be given some sentences in mixed form somewhere dare used as a
modal verb and somewhere as an ordinary verb.
Then they will be asked firstly to tell the form ‘Dare’ has been used as then they will be
changing the sentence from one form to other.

Word Cloud

My Reflection:
Today’s class was inductive and I had come with the new idea of word cloud for home work.
By the way, in between the class learners were not feeling active so I decided to play an
interesting game between them too. It was basically a word game where I used to give then some
words with wrong spelling and they used to correct it.
This made them feel active in class.
Once again, I could see that how some games and activities help to revitalize the students.

Here I was also able to use the inter-disciplinary approach. The history was playing a major role in

My Reflection:

I was very tensed for today’s class but happy from inside too because my class
was to be observed by my Pedagogue itself. I am a person who self criticizes his
works and I knew that I was not able to perform as according to my pedagogue
but still I wanted to show my best in front of her.
In today’s class even I faced network issue but I successfully transacted in the
class. I was happy that I had transacted a class in front of my pedagogue. I was
eager to get feedbacks from her, so that I could work on my weak areas.

My Reflection:
It was raining outside and I was supposed to take class from school. I was not able to start class
on time because I was stuck on traffic. I reached school five minutes late and started the class 10
minutes late.
Sir had already joined the class for supervision. But even after joining learners were not able to
see anything in the screen as the network was too weak in school.
I somehow transacted the class but was very disappointed from inside.
But I was happy for one thing that I had managed the situation well.
