SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN DATO'ABU BAKAR BAGINDA, KAJANG {PPD SEPANG}

lntroduction FINCO Reods lnteractive Reading Corners are specially designoted carners
in the classrooms where students access variety of reading and authentic
moterials in o cosy snd encouraging environment to help their interest
and increase awareness of important in reading English materials.

This is a proposal to set up The lnteractive Reoding Corner in our year 4

Mahsbbqh, which is s strotegic and convenient place. All the reading
msteriols will be chosen based on students' interest and proficiency. The
moteriols can be eosily accessed by all students ot ony times.

Aim FTNCO Reads lnteroctive Reading Corners is aimed to offer a wide range of
literacy experiences to the students. This helps the students to have s
speciol ploce to develop reoding habit and rnerge os independent readers.

objectives 1. To improve reoding proficiency omong students by helping low

proficient students in reading English msteriqls according to students'
abilities.
2. To help teachers improve their pedogogicol skills and reading
strotegies in teaching ond learning to promote literocy qnd moke
reading as a valued skill.
3. To encourage reading beyond curriculum needs and towards reoding
for leisure by introducing a range of reading genres to students.
4. To increase self-esteem and confidence omong students and teachers.
5. To provide opportunities for interaction with positive role models
using English by the teqchers ond volunteers.
6. To give oworeness among students ond porents the importance of
reading.

The reoding corner will be set up

materiols and educqtional games. The reoding corner will include a

diverse ronge of reading materials such as children storyboaks,

dictionaries, ond scrsbble set. The genres selected for students are
chi!dren picture books snd children reference books.

The reoding corner will incorparate a notice baard to display students'

work qnd vocobulary charts. Additional shelves and storoge bosket will
be added to disptoy books and store educational games. A few tables will
be ptaced on a mat for students to read the books comfortably.
