Activity 4: How responsible am I?

Ways on how to become more responsible


1. Be prepared to be answerable and accountable for your actions and behavior. This is part
of growing up and becoming an adult. Everything you do is based on the choices you
make. It’s not your parents, friends, your past relationships, or other people that is to
blame. You and only you are responsible for every actions and behaviors you make. You
should know the values of responsibility, independence/ autonomy and the values of
blameworthiness. Knowing the values of responsibility will help you to accept that you are
in charge on what you did. Your success and failures are entirely your own responsibility.
The values of independence/ autonomy will help you to become more aware that your life
is what you make it. Lastly, the values of blameworthiness will make you realize that you
shouldn’t blame others when you screw up. So when you done something wrong, you
should be accountable of your wrong doing, and stop pointing your fingers to others.

2. Choose your words wisely because it reveals your inner character. Don’t be insensitive,
remember that whatever comes out will either make or break someone. You should know
the values of kindness, discipline, and carefulness. Knowing the values of kindness will help
you to care for other’s feelings. You shouldn’t disrespect and insult others instead, learn to
respect and acknowledge their feelings. The values of discipline will help you to control
what comes out of your mouth. Without this value, you can hurt other’s feelings. It’s also
important to think about what you are going to say, so that you can ensure your words are
understood as you intend them. The values of carefulness will also help you to become
more aware of the things you say. This value will make you realize that words have a
power so we must use them carefully.

3. Take care of the environment. Earth is our only home so it is our responsibility to make
sure the next generations will experience a clean and wonderful environment. We should
start making efforts to try and save our planet. And it’s very essential to start thinking
about ways to save the planet like throwing your trash properly. And most importantly,
learn how to segregate biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclable. You should know
the values of sustainability, the values of cleanliness, and the values of carefulness.
Knowing the values of sustainability will help you to restore, maintain and preserve the
nature. Without protecting and taking care of environment, we’re putting so many lives in
danger such as animals, plants, crops and even our own. Knowing the values of cleanliness
will help you to keep the environment clean and green. It will also help you to develop or
enhance productivity in keeping the environment neat. Lastly, the values of carefulness will
teach us that it’s our responsibility to take care or to keep our nature because this is our
only home. And we should also try to cherish every minute of our environment.
4. Establish a good communication and relation with others. We should choose to build a
positive, meaningful, healthy and productive relationship with the people we interact with.
And the more we get along with someone, the better we are at collaborating and working
together. You should know the values of empathy, compassion and the principle of
willingness to light another’s candle. Knowing the values of empathy will help you build
social connections to other people. Wherein through this value, you will understand the
perception of your words and behaviors to others. And you will learn on how to motivate
people around you. Knowing the values of compassion will give you the ability to
understand someone’s situation. This value is very important because it encourage you to
build a better society. Lastly, the principle of willingness to light another candle, this
principle teaches you that if you want to become a better person or to be successful, you
need the help of others or a good relation to other people.

5. Be aware. Think a lot before doing something or before making decision; evaluate probable
consequences before acting and have a sense of direction. If you don’t think before you
act/decide, you may realize that you did not really want to do what you did. So failing to
think before you act/decide can harm you in many ways. And you should know the values
of cogitation, accountability and awareness. Knowing the values of cogitation helps you to
visualize the best of these decisions. This value also helps you to think of the consequences
before making the decision. The values of accountability help you to accept the result of
your decision. Remember that we won’t always make the right decision, so you should
understand that failure is a part of success. Lastly, the values of awareness, wherein you
should be aware of the possible consequences of your decision. All decisions have a
consequence, so before you choose or decide make sure you’re aware.
