1. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
2. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
3. PSYCHOSOCIAL

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

- this covers the growth of the body and


the brain, motor and sensory skills and
even physical health
COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

- It covers our capacity to learn, to


speak, to understand, to reason and to
create
PSYCHOSOCIAL
DEVELOPMENT

- this includes our social interactions


with other people, our emotions,
attitudes, self- identity, beliefs, and
values
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT covers
whole lifespan of the human
existence in relation to the three
domains, PERSONAL
DEVELOPMENT is one’s own
development and growth within the
context of the three aspects of human
development.

PSYCHOLOGY
- study of human thinking and behavior serves as the
FOUNDATION FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Humanistic Psychology by Abraham Maslow and


Carl Rogers proposed that human development is a way
to reaching one’s fullest potential developed through
Personal Development.
According to Maslow, the five stages of human
development based on hierarchy of needs, peaking in
what he termed as “self-actualization”

It is the construct that negotiates these two
selves (Ideal Self and Actual Self)
ACTUAL SELF

- is who we actually are


-it is how we think, how we feel, look and
act.
- the actual self can be seen by others
- it is our self- image
IDEAL SELF

- is how we want to be
-idealized that we have developed over time,
based on what we have learned and
experienced
- it include components of what our parents
have taught us, what we admire in others,
what our society promotes, and what we
think is in our best interest

SELF
- is the essence of a person: his thoughts,
feelings and actions, experiences, beliefs,
values, principles and relationships
- includes a person’s life purpose, meaning
and aspirations
- cognitive and affective
representation of one’s identity
