1 Introduction
SAIF POWERTEC LIMITED is the registered & converted to a Private Limited Company in 2003,
previously it was SAIF Powertec Corporation. SAIF initiated its business for sales & service of
Construction, material handling & Power Generation equipment in Bangladesh through exclusive
Agreements with the world renowned Manufacturers.

They have few sister concerns named as:

They have business activity of port operation for complete terminal operation of Chittagong Port
Authority (CPA), Pangaon ICT and Kamalapur ICD (KICD). In CPA they had been appointed for
complete Terminal Operation as Terminal Operator for Chittagong Container Terminal (CCT) & 2
Berths of New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT).

This document shall explain the current process based on our discussion with Saif Powertec-Port
management team and our experience in similar industry.

2 Business Process Goals and Objectives

OBJECTIVE:

SOP- solution allows you to have an integrated view of all your Business Processes and other
sub-processes which further allows efficiency and effectiveness in achieving your business goals.

Goals:

 All Business processes and sub-processes are integrated into a single unified system.
 A SOP-solution provides you Productivity, efficiency, effectiveness in Business plans.
 It Reduce the response time due to the effective transfer of Information.

 A SOP solution allows you to streamline most of your functions performed by your
organization as a whole.
 It helps in quick and vital decision making in an organization.

The main goal -SOP is to create standard operating procedures for managing the equipment
maintenance in KICD.

3 Glossary
Term Definition or Meaning
SOP Standard operating process is a process of streamline the
individual Business Processes and integrating with each
other wherever essentially required.

4 General Description of Business Process

The AS-IS process described in this document which gives a clear understanding about the
equipment maintenance of Saif Powertec Ltd in KICD.

A. Equipment Maintenance
 They maintain all equipment to achieve the best performance on it
 They do plan maintenance and breakdown maintenance
 In planned maintenance, they schedule for each equipment
 In case of emergency maintenance and corrective maintenance, field staff report to
management first
 Maintenance Management do investigation and analyse the fault of the system.
 If any spare parts require to resolve the issue, check stock otherwise purchase from local
market. If foreign purchase requires, create purchase requisition.
 After receiving the spare parts (local and imported), they complete the repairing work and
submit the equipment to ops team.
 For each equipment maintenance, they create Job Card
 On the basis of Hr/Mileage, they perform planned maintenance and also perform routine
check each time before and after using an equipment
