“Medical equipment” It is hoped that this paper can provide useful information for all of us.
We realize that this paper is still far from perfect, therefore constructive criticism and

CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY
1.Background
Medical devices are tools that exist in the health sector. (Law of the Republic of Indonesia
No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health) is an instrument, apparatus, machine, implant containing
drugs used to prevent, diagnose, cure and relieve disease, treat the sick and restore health in
humans and to form structures and improve body functions. For that we who have entered the
world of health, must know what medical devices and their functions are.
2. Objectives
The purpose of making this paper is to tell what are the names and functions of medical
devices.
3.Benefit
Our insight into medical devices is getting wider. We also increasingly understand and
understand the function of each tool.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
Medical devices are tools that exist in the health sector. (Law of the Republic of Indonesia
No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health) is an instrument, apparatus, machine, implant containing
drugs used to prevent, diagnose, cure and relieve disease, treat the sick and restore health in
humans and to form structures and improve body functions. For that we who have entered the
world of health, must know what medical devices and their functions are.
Medical devices are divided into several types based on their function, namely:
Diagnostic tools are tools to help establish a diagnosis There are several kinds of vital
sign diagnostic tools such as tensimeter,thermometer and stethoscope. Furthermore,
there are imaging diagnostic tools, namely:Ultrasound, MRI, CT Scan and X-ray
equipment
Treatment tools include infusion pumps, flash cutters, lasers, machines LASIK
surgery and so on
Life support equipment used to maintain body functions someone, including
ventilators, anesthesia machines, ECMO, dialysis mesia, and etc.
Medical monitoring tools allow health workers to monitor condition of a patient. The
monitor can measure vital signs and other parameters including ECG, EEG, blood
pressure and obstetrics gases in the blood
Laboratory equipment that is automatic and can analyze blood, urine and genes.
There are so many medical devices, even 1 tool can vary in terms of shape, size and
modernity.Shapes can vary due to needs in the field, for example, there are clamps (tissue
clamps) that are straight or bent at the ends.The modernity of related medical devices with the
demands of the times so that many medical devices are made more simple, concise and
easy.For example, blood sugar testing equipment used to only be done at the center health
services,now there are many on the market and can be done by the patient himself.
C. Medical Devices Including Instrumentals
1. Forceps
function This tool is used to clamp objects or hold them. The shape consists of two pieces
facing each other and can be clamped or released.
2. Peritoneum forceps
3. Scalped
Scalpel Handel: knife handle that serves to grip the operating knife.
4. Bandage scissors
6. Klem ( Clamp)
Its use is to perform hemostasis, it is important to stop bleeding during surgery. These clamps
are used for thin and soft tissue. It is also divided into atraumatic and traumatic.
7. 3. Laryngeal Mirror
This tool is used to see the inside of the mouth and throat
8. Reflek Hammer
This tool serves to check the ability of reflection of our body parts such as knees for example.
9. Speculum
This tool serves to examine the body cavity by inserting it into that part of the body.
10. Pus Basin, Emesis Basin
This tool is used to collect pus, vomit, used cotton and others.
11. Stethoscope
Binaural stethoscope (which is attached to the ear) serves to listen to various sounds in the
body. For example the sound of the heart, lungs and the like.
Tongue Blade or Tong Spatel This tool serves to block the tongue so that it can be examined
from it. Including the throat such as whether tonsils, pharyngitis or not and the like.

Used for nurses if you want to put tools such as a body thermometer, then a special place is
provided.
If what is placed is larger tools such as tweezers, clamps, pliers, etc. (= forceps in English),
then the place is similar to the place for a thermometer, only the diameter is bigger
D. Consumables
1. Spuit
Syringes are useful for administering drugs or fluids into intravenous, subcutaneous or
intracutaneous vessels.
2. Gloves
Gloves or handscoons are useful for protecting hands from blood dirt which aims to prevent
infection and transmission of germs
NGT or nasogastric tube is useful for inserting food or liquids for patients who have
difficulty swallowing.
4. Urine bag
Urine bag that is useful for storing urine which is connected to a foley catheter to remove or
collect urine in a closed system
5. Infusion device
serves to enter intravenous fluids or drugs into the patient's body through a vein, with a speed
that can be adjusted constantly within a certain time.
6. Catheter
a small, thin tube made of rubber or plastic that is flexible to be inserted into the urinary tract
so that the user can urinate more easily.
7. Oxygen hose
Masks are useful for covering and protecting the respiratory tract from dust and dirt around
the room.
9. Safety Box
useful for disposing and storing syringes that are not reused to avoid punctures or repeated
use.
It is used to take a blood sample by inserting it into the tip of the finger. Usually used in
conjunction with a lancing device to check blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid levels etc.

Conclusion
medical equipment plays an important role in health and tools in the health sector
have different functions according to their respective places.
Suggestion
read a lot about medical devices because we as students in the field of health will care
for someone who of course must understand and understand these tools.
