BRAKE (FRONT) FRONT BRAKE(for 4WD and Pre-Runner) INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:
· Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
· The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

1.INSTALL FRONT DISC 43512

a.

*a Matchmark

Align the matchmarks and install the front disc.


HINT:
When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the front disc has the
smallest runout.

2.INSTALL DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH 47750

a. Install the disc brake cylinder assembly LH with the 2 bolts.


Torque:
197 N*m (2009 kgf*cm, 145 ft.*lbf)

3.CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 WHEEL CYLINDER TUBE LH 47343A

*a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

Using a union nut wrench, connect the front No. 1 wheel cylinder tube LH to the disc brake cylinder
assembly LH.
Torque:
Specified tightening torque : 15.2 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf)

HINT:
· Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

· When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.8661 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum
length of 162 mm (6.3779 in.)): 13.4 N*m (137 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

4.INSTALL FRONT ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT 04945

*1 Front Disc Brake Pad


*2 No. 1 Anti-squeal Shim
*3 No. 2 Anti-squeal Shim

Disc brake grease

a. except 16 inch Front Disc Brake (Type B):

i. Apply disc brake grease to both sides of each No. 1 anti-squeal shim.
NOTICE:
For 16 inch Front Disc Brake (Type B), do not apply disc brake grease.

b. Install the No. 1 anti-squeal shims and No. 2 anti-squeal shims to each pad.
NOTICE:
· When replacing worn front disc brake pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with
the front disc brake pads.
· Install the anti-squeal shims in the correct positions and directions as shown in the illustration.

5.INSTALL DISC BRAKE PAD KIT FRONT 04465

a. Install the 2 front disc brake pads to the disc brake cylinder assembly LH.
NOTICE:
Make sure there is no oil or grease on the friction surface of the front disc brake pads and front disc.

6.INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING 04947

a. for 15 inch Front Disc Brake (Type A):


i. Install the 2 disc brake pad guide pins and front disc brake anti-rattle spring.
HINT:
Install the front disc brake anti-rattle spring together with the disc brake pad guide pin on the bottom
side.

ii. Install the pin hold clip.

b. for 15 inch Front Disc Brake (Type B):


i. Install the front disc brake anti-rattle spring.

ii. Hold down the front disc brake anti-rattle spring and insert the 2 disc brake pad guide pins.

iii. Install the pin hold clip.

c. for 16 inch Front Disc Brake (Type A):


i. Install the 2 disc brake pad guide pins and front disc brake anti-rattle spring.
HINT:
Install the front disc brake anti-rattle spring together with the disc brake pad guide pin on the bottom
side.

ii. Install the 2 pin hold clips.


NOTICE:
When installing the pin hold clip, be sure to install the pin hold clip with the handle facing the center
of the vehicle.

d. for 16 inch Front Disc Brake (Type B):


i. Install the front disc brake anti-rattle spring.

ii. Hold down the front disc brake anti-rattle spring and insert the 2 disc brake pad guide pins.

iii. Install the 2 clips.

When installing the pin hold clip, be sure to install the pin hold clip with the handle facing the center
of the vehicle.

7.BLEED BRAKE LINE (w/ VSC)

10.INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
