that would make people older. It is probably the right way to begin his invention as he
wants to make people older and therefore, the use of old things seems appropriate.

A4. With the exception of the 4000-year-old Bristlecone pine, the things mentioned in Mr
Wonka's list like the toe-nail clipping from a 168-year-old Russian farmer, the tail of a 51-
year-old horse are purely imaginary.

A5. The moment the twenty-year-old volunteer swallowed four drops of the new invention,
he began wrinkling and shrivelling up all over. His hair started dropping off and his teeth
started falling out. Before Mr Wonka knew it, the volunteer had suddenly become an old
man of seventy-five. The name of the invention was Vita-Wonk.

1. Mr Willy wonka begins by inventing Wonka – Vite, which makes people younger. But Wonka-
Vite is too strong. So some people disappear, because their age becomes minus! One person
actually becomes minus eighty seven, which means he’s got to wait eighty seven years before
he can come back.

The first invention of Mr. Willy Wonka is Wonka-Vite.

For the people who took Wonka-Vite, their age was reduced to minus and some of them
disappeared.

tiny cupful of oily black liquid and gave four drops of it to a brave twenty-year-old Oompa-

A1. Mum, Dad and the Child saw a cat stuck in their tree. The tree was tall but unsteady. The
problem before them was how to rescue the cat by getting it down.

A2. Mum was a practical woman. She was aware of Dad’s boastful nature. She could calculate in
advance that Dad would fall and injure himself. She feared that Dad would fall and injure himself.
She was afraid that Dad would break his neck since he was not a climber at all. Therefore, she
tried to dissuade him from embarking on a silly venture.

However, by the end of the poem, their positions were reversed. The cat was set free on the

You can’t judge the strength of a person by the size of his/her actions, but by the devotion of an
act, no matter how small. What matters is the confidence and willpower, not the size. One should
not be considered as weak by the size of their appearance as the blend of courage and
confidence can make a huge difference.
