FINAL EXAM in ELT 323

Virtual Play

GUIDELINES IN CREATING YOUR VIRTUAL PLAY

Let us apply the process of theater production through a virtual play. Since you can’t
have it on stage, be creative in delivering the message of your play. Your task is to
create an original virtual play. This exam takes 40% of your tentative final grade.
Accomplish the task with careful planning and execution. Be guided by the steps
below:

1. From the research and impersonation exercise you made in the Evaluate section of
Module 5, you are now ready to use those materials in writing a synopsis and a script.
The story revolves around a discussion of the following leaders in heaven about how the
Philippine government deals with the COVID 19 pandemic or the theme: Government
Pandemic Response: The Ugly Truth. The play must deliver the message which refers to
the leaders’ different views or perspectives on how the government takes control of the
problem on COVID 19. You can choose any genre that will fit to your story. Setting is
heaven, purgatory, or both.

* To the group that wishes to have a different story (original or adapted) aside from the
given scenario, you may create another interpretation or delivery of the theme. You
may have any genre of your choice as long as it is appropriate to the plot.

2. Decide who will be your script writers (2), directors (1), technical crew/video editors
(2), and actors (4). Some of you may take two roles. You may have a maximum of 6
actors (4 main characters and 2 minor characters). It depends on you whom do you
like to include as your minor character. They may just show reactions, or they may be
mediators. One may also be eavesdropping.

For CBL: You may have at least two characters.

3. The script must be written in English and research-based. The director leads and
guides the actors and the other members to have a smooth production. The technical
crew and editor take charge of the instructions to be followed by the actors in
preparation for their individual recording and background. They are also in charge of
the music or sound effects, change of background for the set, and video editing. The
actors memorize their lines and take charge of their own costume and make-up.

4. When you are done with your script, follow the steps in directing and producing a
stage play. Do script reading and virtual workshop to be led by your director. It can be
done video conferencing or individual recording then submit it to your director for
evaluation and feedback. Take note of the points for improvement so you can
incorporate them in your final rehearsal prior to the filmed acting.

5. The technical crew shall give directions like: proper framing (only bust level),
placement of their script in case they forget, and focal point. Download the
background (heaven) and use this later on when you merge all the videos you
collected from your actors. Merge the videos to have a total of 6-8 minute playing time.
Collaboratively work with your director and script writer when you do the editing and
adding music or sound effects for correct timing.

6. Submit your video together with your script (refer to the format given in scriptwriting).
Name your video as VIRTUALPLAY_GROUP NUMBER and your script as SCRIPT_GROUP
NUMBER. Send it to the final exam bin in the google classroom (for OBL) or save both
files in your OTG (for CBL).

7. Your performance will be scored using this rubric:
