GAS HOLDER

A cylindrical drum made of GI sheet or mild steel sheet with one end open , diameter 2m and height 1.2m, and
suspended above the digester with open end bottom. As the gas is formed and fills the empty suspender drum its
upward and downward movements are facilitated by a pipe welded at the drum. The drum has been provided
with counter weight arrangement. The pressure on the gas is equivalent to the weight of drum. Weight can be
increased by adding weight over pulleys. This helps better transportation of gas to the place of use.

INLET & OUTLET TANK

The inlet tank is used to mix manure and make slurry to use in the digester. A strainer is useful to block big size
particle. Cow dung is mixed with same quantity of water. (1:1 ratio)

Outlet tank receives the fermented slurry.

THE SLURRY

The slurry is an aqueous solution of solids in a liquid. It appear like dark mud. When the slurry is exposed to air
it cannot produce methane and it sepeartes into 2 portions.

a) Solid sludge (dark mud coloured portions which settle down). This can be dried and utilized as livestock
feed because of good amount of nutrients 20% CP ,5% fat, 10% fibre .,Minerals and vit B12. Are also
present

This is Salmonella free and it can be used as feed and also fertilizer

b) Liquid sludge- 90% is comprised of liquid portion

1) Can be used for irrigation water and fertilizer
2) For fish culture
3) For algae culture
