Now, I will discuss to you the proper ways of

Handling animals with the help of
my friend here Dora!
Dora has a lot of animal friends and since you helped
Her save Boots a while ago. She will tell us
The proper ways of handling animals.

Proper ways of handling animals are techniques

that can reduce pain and distress and can increase
animal welfare.
Some animals such as cats and birds can also
cause injury. If you do not know how to handle
them, cats put out their claws and scratch and
bite.

IN HANDLING CATS:
Calmly approach the cat, using confident movements and speaking
quietly all the time. Approach the head first and then stroke down he body
of the cat. Pick the cat up gently by placing one hand under the cat’s chest
and the other hand under its hindquarters. Bring the cat towards you on
your chest or along your arm, ensuring it feels secure.

IN HANDLING RABBITS:
Put one hand on the shoulder of the animal and slide you other hand over
underneath the front legs so that the first finger is postioned between
them. The thumb and middle finger can then close over the forelegs of
the rabbit and the handler’s other hand should be used to lift the hind
quarters.

Proper handling of animals describes how people respond to and

interact with animals within their environment. Never approach any
animal, even your own, when he or she is eating, sleeping, chewing on
a toy.

Always pet an animal gently, with no pulling or tugging, and never from
behind. Never surprise the animal by approaching from behind.
Extend your hand, palm down. Curl your fingers into a fist to prevent
biting of your digits. Let the animal sniff your hand, then slowly move
your hand to touch the side of the face then stroke the top of the head.

We need to feed them proper foods. We need to provide shelter to

animals or our pets. They need veterinarians to monitor their health.

Remember, that a pet is a living

creature to be cared for and
respected. Animals have needs and
feelings, and they rely on us, their
caretakers, for friendship and
loving care.

So, I have here stuff toys that can

represent as your pet. One cat and one
rabbit stuff toy.
Who can volunteer to come here in
front to follow what Dora said in
Proper handling in cats and rabbits?
I need one volunteer from girls
and one volunteer from boys. Me, teacher!

Okay, Nicole!
We already have volunteer from girls!
How about in boys? Me teacher!

Okay Stephen. (pupils perform the

proper ways of handling
animals)

Outstanding! Let`s give a

Fireworks clap for everyone.

Thank you for doing a great job today, class!
