BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR LEARNERS

Heredity is the passing on of traits from parents to offspring.


Traits are found in genes.
The inherited traits came from parents to offspring, animals to baby
animals and plants can have their young plants.
Example: If the mother or father is tall, the child is also tall.

LEARNING COMPETENCY

The Learning Activity Sheets are provided to help engage learners into
guided and independent learning activities at your own pace and time. This
helps you master identify observable characteristics that are passed on from
parents to offspring (e.g. humans, animals, plants)(S3LT-IIg-h13 )

DIRECTIONS/INSTRUCTIONS

Let us go back to the article, observable characteristics that are passed on


from parents to offspring. Let’s see if you can still recall the information from the

 Many plants grow from seeds but they can also grow from other plant parts
like the stem, leaf and root. Plants beautify surroundings. We should not
destroy them instead let’s plant more.
