ASSIGNMENT 1 (individual)
Research Title: The effects of extensive reading to promote vocabulary learning of the FFL's
freshman at IUH.
CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION (300 - 500 words)
1.1. Rationale

In practically every industry, Vietnam is now attempting to integrate into the global market.
English is regarded as an excellent communication tool all over the world in order to achieve
long-term collaboration. In this context, the use of English as a second language by
Vietnamese people, particularly students, is becoming increasingly vital. In reality, many
Vietnamese youngsters now have early access to English, and many of them select English as
their future job.

That seems to be a positive indicator for our country at this time. However, many English
majors have insufficient vocabulary, which has a direct impact on the ability to learn and
communicate. Vocabulary is an essential aspect that connects the four language skills and
plays the most crucial role in foreign language learning, it is regarded the biggest obstacle for
students majoring in English. Students must learn an adequate amount of words and know
how to use them correctly and appropriately to communicate effectively in a foreign
language.

In this regard, we chose to do research on the issue of " The effects of extensive reading to
promote vocabulary learning of the Faculty of Foreign Language's freshman at Industrial
University of Ho Chi Minh City ." The goal of this project is to obtain a better knowledge of
