Ans: 5%Increase in 10years =(262500−175000)=87500
Increase %=(17500087500×100)%=50%
∴ Required average=(1050)%=5%

Ans: Let John's initial salary = Rs.100

After decreasing by 50%, John's salary = Rs. 50 (because it will become half)

After subsequently increasing by 50%, John's salary

=50×100+50100=50×150100=50×100+50100=50×150100= Rs.7575

Loss = 100−75=100−75= Rs.2525

Loss percent =25100×100=25%

Ans: Let x be the total marks (40-30)%x=10+15
x=250 250(40%)-15 =85
or 250(30)%+10=85
4) A student multiplied a number by 3/5 instead of 5/3.What is the percentage error in the calculation?
Ans:
(100 *5)/3 = 500/3.
Student multiplied = (100 *3)/5 = 300/5.
%Error = (1600 *100 *3)/(15*500) = 64%.

Now, according to the question,

125% of selling price of goods by Hari = 75

= Selling price of goods by Hari = 100125×75100125×75 = 60

So, Hari's goods are cheaper than Shyam's goods by

40100×100%40100×100% = 40%

6) 30% of a number when subtracted from 91, gives the number itself. Find the number.
Ans: Let us assume the number as 'x'
91-( *x) = x

91-(3x/10)=x

x-91=-3x/10

x =

10x = -3x+910

13x = 910

x = 910/13

= 70

Therefore x = 70

7) In an examination, Mohit obtained 20% more than Sushant but 10% less than Rajesh. If the mark obtained by

Therefore marks obtained by Mohit = 1080 + 1080 x 0.2 = 1080 + 216 = 1296.
8) If 40% of a number is equal to two-third of another number, what is the ratio of first number to the second
number?
Ans: Let 40% of A= 32 B
Then, 10040A = 32B
=> 52A=32B
=> BA = (32×25)=35
∴ A:B=5:3

than minimum passing marks. Find the maximum number of marks and percentage necessary for passing.
Ans: let the max. marks be x
20℅ of x + 20= 36℅ of x- 44
20/100 x+ 20= 36/100 x- 44
x/5 + 20 = 9/25 x- 44
x+100/5= 9x- 1100/25
25(x+100)=5(9x-1100)
25x+2500=45x-5500
2500+5500=45x-25x
8000=20x
x=8000/20
=400
max. marks=400
℅ required for pass=20℅of 400+20
=20/100×400 +20
=80+20
=100 marks

The income of A = 4x x[5/4]= 5x
The income of C= (4x+5x) x [35/100] = 3.15x
Required % = [(5x-3.15x)/5x] x 100 = 37%
