We had another successful and busy week at Life Point Medical. On Thursday, I went
through my first HIPAA/OSHA training and received my certificates for both. I am thankful that
I was able to do that while being in my internship. All employees went through the training, so
we are good until next year. I continued to complete my main duties and tasks throughout the
week while also learning something new that I will keep up with as I start my full-time position.
I started Monday morning by checking the email, tidying my workspace up, and just
simply getting my mind ready for a new week at the office. After the morning huddle, I checked
the status of some EOBs that appeared in my task box over the weekend. Then, I started the
morning billing for the women’s center and the main office. After lunch, I finished the morning
billing before I ran some errands in town. In town, I had to get some baby waters for the
women’s center, pick up a sign from Tropical Rayz, and get some change for the check-in desk.
Once I returned from town, I completed the afternoon billing and dropped many claims. I had a
few questions for the providers before Jessica and I could drop the rest of the claims and leave
Tuesday morning, I checked the email and the schedule before getting started for the day.
Jessica and I reminded everyone at the morning huddle about the mandatory HIPAA/OSHA
training scheduled from 12-2. That took the place of our staff meeting for the month and lunch
was provided. After the morning huddle, Jessica had to refresh my brain on how to do the
ultrasound spreadsheet. It is up to the individuals from infinite consulting to contact the patient’s

insurance to see whether the ultrasound will be fully or partially covered. I was updating the
spreadsheet with the patients’ who received an ultrasound the month of February and March,
comparing it to what the patient owed per infinite consulting and then confirming whether they
had a billing issue or not. I completed as much of the morning billing I could before running to
Ingles to pick up some lemonade. By the time I got back, the Chick-Fil-A was delivered, and a
coworker and I organized this to where it would be easy for everyone to grab their food box and
go. We completed the HIPAA/OSHA training while eating our lunch and returned to work. I
checked the mail and saw where a package was left at the post office. I went to the post office to
pick up the package. When I got back, I completed the afternoon billing and helped Jessica drop
a few of the claims. She also showed me how to delete a claim if I ever needed to for any reason.
On Thursday, after the morning huddle, I completed a couple of EOBs that were in my
task box. Then, I created and organized a binder for the ultrasound and mammogram information
including the scheduling and billing aspect of it. The company of these services reaches out to
the patients’ insurance companies to determine whether or not they have a copay, and if they do
then they make note of that so they can let the patient know before coming in for their
appointment. Jessica showed me how to look back at the patients’ claims and date of service and
I checked to make sure that the patient was not overcharged or undercharged after the claim has
dropped and went through insurance. That is the purpose of the spreadsheet that Jessica created
once we started using this company. Then, I started the morning billing before leaving for lunch.
After lunch, I finished the morning billing and checked the mail. I worked some more on the
ultrasound billing and checking the patients’ claims. I completed the afternoon billing and
dropped a few of the claims. I had a few questions for the providers regarding the patients’ charts
Friday was a slower day as we continue to only have one provider. This gives us time to
clean up around the office before the next week begins. After the morning huddle, I worked
some more on the ultrasound spreadsheet and got most of the binder organized. I completed the
morning billing before leaving for lunch. After lunch, I completed the deposit for the office and
took it to the bank, and I also got change for the main office and the Women’s Center before the
new week started. When I returned, we had quite a few boxes of office supplies, so Jessica and I
unpacked those and put them where they belonged. I completed the afternoon billing, dropped a
few claims, and asked John and the nurses a couple of questions before leaving for the day.
Overall, it was a great week and I continue to learn different tasks while also mastering
the ones that I have already learned. Tamie and I are starting to plan the event for the Women’s
