1. What are your routines in the ICU?

Our usual day goes by taking VS, NVS, and other assessment every 30 mins, draining of
urine hourly, and assisting during doctor's rounds. Aside from those, we make refills for our

We also dont have an aide so all the paperworks such as the inventories, census, and
checking of machines are ours as well.

2. What do you think are the risks and benefits of being an ICU nurse?
Risk: More exposed to the patient, risk of burnout is high. Benefits: more learnings, more
exposure. Mas nagiging broad yung approach mo sa patient.

3. How did you become an ICU Nurse?

Honestly, hindi ko alam. All I know is that I did my job as a ward nurse. I take it seriously.
Siguro nakita nila na may potential. Mabilis naman kasi ang promotion lalo na at kulang tayo

important?
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certification. You will need these in order to care and assess your
patient properly.

situations? (Have you ever had to care for a critically ill patient that took up a lot of
your time? How did you handle this patient's care while maintaining the safety or
treatment of your other patients?)
Take it one step as a time. Focus on what needs to be done first. Then, move on.

Reflection:

As my groupmates interviewed Ms. Mikaela Pacheco, an alumni of College of

Allied Medicine at SLSU as was not present because my internet connection at that time was
not working. So this reflection should be a reflection on the video of my groupmates
interview with Ms. Mikaela Pacheco.

They ask Ms. Mikaela Pacheco question related to her experience on being a ICU
nurse. It was nice to hear from a ICU nurse to talk about it since she is exposed in the area. I
feel that she was a cool and nice person because when I was watching the interview she
allow my fellow groupmates to speak and it is also cool that she face my groupmates where
in she still where are PPE. It gives me that she is a very busy person.

I still regretting this opportunity that a miss because of my internet connection. I have
many things I would like to discuss with her because we are not knowledgeable. I find it
helpful that she gave us opportunities to talk to them. She provide information to use student
will be providing us motivation to strive more and be an excellent nurse someday
