Questions Educators Think About Frequently

Are we meeting our students’
needs?
Now that we completed MAP
testing, what should we do
with the information?

Where are the learning gaps?

What is MAP Testing
MAP Testing is the measure of academic progress. The students are
assessed on the reading, mathematics, and for certain grades, science
skills. It builds a unique test for the individual student. The tests are all
completely different. The students are not expected to know every
answer on the test. The test will change depending if a student gets the
answer correct or incorrect. The difficulty will adjust based on how the
student is doing on the test. We are looking for improvements from the
previous test.

What Are the Next Steps
Analyze your class assessment and determine the needs of the
students.

You can create groups that focus on the individual needs of the
students.

For example: I have a 7 students who are struggling with Measurement

and Data. I will make a math group, where I can have those students
work with me in the particular area, while the other students are
working individually.

Examples of How You Can Apply the
Data in Your Instruction
-Help the students create goals for themselves and help them monitor
their progress.

-Create flexible groups for the students that have differentiated

instruction.

-Use the data to help engage the students with the material.

-Use various teaching strategies to help each type of learner.

-Communicate with parents their child’s results and share the learning
goals their child is working towards. 14
