INTRODUCTION
A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a non-profit, citizen-based group that functions
independently of government. NGOs, sometimes called civil societies, are organized on
community, national and international levels to serve specific social or political purposes, and
are cooperative, rather than commercial, in nature.

Two broad groups of NGOs are identified by the World Bank:

 Operational NGOs, which focus on development projects.

 Advocacy NGOs, which are organized to promote particular causes.

Certain NGOs may fall under both categories simultaneously.

Examples of NGOs include those that support human rights, advocate for improved health or
encourage political participation.

While the term "NGO" has various interpretations, it is generally accepted to include private
organizations that operate without government control and that are non-profit and non-
criminal. Other definitions further clarify NGOs as associations that are non-religious and
non-military.

Some NGOs rely primarily on volunteers, while others support a paid staff.

How NGOs are Funded

As non-profits, NGOs rely on a variety of sources for funding, including:

 Membership dues
 Private donations
 The sale of goods and services
 Grants

Despite their independence from government, some NGOs rely significantly on government

funding. Large NGOs may have budgets in the millions or billions of dollars.
Types of NGOs

A number of NGO variations exist, including:

 BINGO: business-friendly international NGO (example: Red Cross)

 ENGO: environmental NGO (Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund)
 GONGO: government-organized non-governmental organization (International Union for
Conservation of Nature)
 INGO: international NGO (Oxfam)

What Human Rights is all about?
Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from
birth until death. They apply regardless of where you are from, what you believe or how you
choose to live your life.
They can never be taken away, although they can sometimes be restricted – for example if a
person breaks the law, or in the interests of national security.
These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness, equality, respect and
independence. These values are defined and protected by law. In Britain our human rights are
protected by the Human Rights Act 1998.

Why we need right?

 We need to set down human rights because they give us a moral vision of human nature
and human dignity.
 Human rights also give us a political vision or an agenda for change.
 We need human rights for protection when our legal rights are violated by the state, and
to encourage justice and fairness within our societies.

ABOUT OUR NGO

NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS AND PUBLIC WELFARE TRUST

 Our NGO was open 1 year ago on the occasion of republic day in the Gaya city Bihar and
in this one year this NGO is lead in our city.
 The work of our NGO is to protect rights of the people which is known as human rights.
 This NGO not only protect the rights of people it also works to develop the country.
 The branch of this NGO is located at Bangalore, Mumbai, Patna, Gaya.
 There are 100 members in in our NGO including doctors’ lawyer and some other big
posts people.

Our joining to NGO

 After clear the confusion of choosing the NGO from no. of NGOs we join this NGO on
25 June 2018 because this NGO works in all field of problem and finding lots.
 We got an opportunity to help the society through joining this NGO.
 There are so many different barriers come in families, in relationship of husband and
wife, so the main purpose of choosing this NGO that we can able to learn and resolve this
type of issues from families.
 After analysing about the NGO that they also help to leave the innocent prisoners from
the jail.
 So, according to our point of view we taken a good step that we choose this NGO that we
come to know so many things about the society.

Distributing pamphlets by N.H.P.T

Case:1 right to choose

Everyone has a freedom to live with his/her dream partner.

One case came in our NGO that a mother came and she was saying that my son is in jail
actually he loves someone and her family don’t accept this love because the boy belong
backward class and their family instead of mutual talking they file false FIR in police station
and they force their girl to speak in front of police that the boy raped her and girl accept that
forcedly because girl also love him.

Because boy did not belong to rich family the police file wrong FIR as girl father said them.

when this matter was known through the lady so the members of NGO tried their best as girl
also loves him and she wants to marry him so our members said to girl that you not need to
fear from your family as we all protect you and provide you basic facility you only need to
accept in court that the boy did not rape you, and at last boy release from jail and finally they
married with each other.
Case:2 Protect child right

In this case we basically provide the rights which they have from their birth.

Yeah it is fact that child belong to rich family they go to school everyday but the poor ones
are not able to go to school because of their family background and instead of going to school
they work for less money in any shop or in anywhere. Some business man hires him in very
less money even after knowing that it is illegal.

Our work in this is that we found the child who wants to study or interested to go to school
but they are forcefully working.

So, we release that type of child and provide them school dress and some stationery items so
that they not face any problem and educate their self.

Some of the photos of this session.

This case is as same as the other one the only different in that is we focus on girl who is able
to study and want to do study but their family is of stereotype thinking. They think that giving
education to girl child is wastage of money. They think that girl is for maintaining or for
cooking. And they also forced to girl for marriage.

We basically target the village family where girl is not allowed to study and also not allowed
to talk about their rights. We talk to their family and tell about the achievements of girls in
various fields. So that they send their girl to school and give her time to study.
After our suggestion we can’t change their thinking of all parents but some parents start
sending their girl to school.

This type of nonsense things is still present in current scenario so our NGO helps to remove
that barriers from the society.

So, from this little help some of the rural boys and girls get educated equally and success in
his/her life.

Case 3: Protect from delivering of bad quality of petrol

In our place some petrol pumps giving bad quality of petrol that is mix with water of 7:3 in
which some public servant also involves. They add water to increase their profit
maximization. Even after complain to the police they did not take any strict action to that
petrol pump. After losing of all hope some people came to us for our help.

So, 2-3 members went to that place and doing some tactics like they said to one staff give me
petrol in the bottle but they didn’t give but after doing stubborn one staff give the petrol in
bottle.

After this seen one member check the petrol through some gadget they found only 65% to
75% of petrol in the bottle. When customers known about this they become offended to that
petrol pump.

A strict action has been taken by our NGO that they inform to higher authority with prove
and released all wrong happening in our city then higher authority taken strict action against
the petrol pump and the secretory of petrol pump found guilty and then it was seal by
government.

Our learning to NGO

 Improves our personality: As we join national human rights and public

welfare trust so this NGO is all about helping the society and meet with
different with people so we also met with them and we develop our
personality.

 Closing the gap between rich and poor: The NGO never discriminate
between rich and poor people they always come to help different people so
we also got learn from NGO that discrimination between rich and poor
people is not a good thing. Always ready to help the people never feel that
these people are rich person or poor person.

 How to work as a team: NHPT known that how to work as a team how to
cooperate each other with team members. How to coordinate with each
other.
So, we can easily learn through our members how to work as a team.

 Working without expectation: Our secretory always motivate them in a

different way like they give training to us by arrange meetings that how to
behave with others how to solve the problems of ourselves and different
people also. So that we also join some meetings and learn this thing.

These all points are very helpful for us.
