economists and political schemers have
denounced as a "barbarous relic."
The war on gold began several cen-
turies ago. when politicians discovered they
could print limitless amounts of paper cur-
rency for a small fraction of the cost of using
gold as money. It has accelerated in recent
years, as the United States acquired a paper
debt of a trillion·plus dollars, massive federal
deficits led to double·digit inflation, and inter-
nationalists plotted to create a New World
Order.
For centuries, gold has been the "asset
of last resort" for the prudent, when savings
are threatened by confiscatory taxation or
runaway inflation. But in recent years, anti-
gold internationalists have created confu-
sion in the market place. Sutton explains
how the price of gold is manipulated — and
how long such juggling can continue.
