Globalization
The effects of the first globalization cause individualism. Individualism means more self-
serving than others. It makes individuals less public so that any event in their environment is
deemed unimportant. The vast majority of people who are individually unselfish live in the
neighborhood, lack of communication from one person to another all around, lack of concern for
the interests of others around him, lack of interaction with others and away from cooperative
attitudes
Then the next impact is westernization. Westernization itself is the attitude of completely
imitating what is seen without first considering in all its ways referring to the western world, and
the process of taking or imitating directly without being seen with adjustments to local culture.
Usually, westernization is carried out by people who want to be said to be modern from the fear
of being said to be out of date. Usually also the cultural elements that are imitated the fastest are
generally material culture such as hairstyles, clothes or even promiscuity. However, this is
different from eastern culture. Those who suddenly perceive something that is not suitable, will
feel that something is wrong. Actually, tolerance can be done in this cultural perspective.
However, not everyone can apply it in their life.
The final impact is social inequality. On the other hand, even if globalization has been
able to reach all aspects of human life, it has resulted in social inequality asa result. There are
remote and rural areas that cannot be covered. A region already receiving will find facilities that
are better than people in an inaccessible place. From means of transportation, economics, to
education, out of reach areas are scarce.
In short, globalization has had some negative effects such as causing individualism, the
westernization and the social disparity. Therefore, to face today's global challenge we will face
many challenges that require resilience so that we can survive all forms of change.
