B. Diagonal tension cracks near the supports.
C. Shear Compression cracks in the compression zone of the beam.
D. Flexure-shear crack in between the supports and mid-span.

List II

(b) A-2, B-1, C-1, D-3
(c) A-2, B-2, C-1, D-1
(d) A-3, B-3, C-3, D-1

Solution
Refer lecture 11 @4.42min

The crack pattern for a simply supported concrete beam follows

a) The cracks will be vertical due to bending alone near or at the midspan of the
beam. These are called flexure cracks.
b) The cracks are inclined at an anle of 45 at the supports due to shear. These are
called diagonal tension cracks.
c) The cracks in the compression zone due to shear inclines at 45.
d) In between the supports and mid span, the crack inclination varies from 45 to 90
gradually. These are known as flexure shear cracks.
