The Ingredients for Success

Calming music, friendly staff, delicious smelling food, and a good atmosphere is

what any person would want to experience as they walk into a restaurant. The vibes

that come from the restaurant set the mood for the entire dining experience. Dewey’s

Pizza was not short of any of these expectations. The initial feeling when I walked

through the door seemed like any other pizza-selling restaurant, but what makes

Dewey’s different from Domino’s and Pizza Hut? A good pizza place, such as Dewey’s,

would make sure that it is equipped with friendly staff, a good atmosphere, lots of

options for anyone who dines with them, quick service, and reasonably priced, quality

food.

When I got to the hostess stand in Dewey’s Pizza, it didn’t feel as if I was about

to be dining in a big chain restaurant where the staff was only there for the money. It

seemed like they wanted to be there. The staff was not only welcoming and friendly, but

also very informative. They sat our party with big smiles on their faces, which made us

feel appreciated and wanted. There was a feeling of warmth radiating off of them onto

us. After seating us, they took us through the menu and seasonal items, which many

pizza joints do not do. This made Dewey’s stand out from other pizza places, because it

seemed like they care about their customers. In regards to how the staff treated the

diners, I would give Dewey’s Pizza an A+.

After being greeting by the waitress, I had time to look around and inspect the

room and determine the atmosphere. At first, I noticed all of the talkative families that

were gathered in the dining room. The buzz of conversation swelled and shrunk back

down often. This made it seem like it was a family-welcoming environment, which is a

good quality of any restaurant. As I looked around, I noticed the mouth-watering smell of

the pizzas and the sound of the fun, rhythmic music playing overhead. This created a

chill, fun atmosphere within the place. In addition to these, the many windows created

lots of natural light creating an open, relaxing vibe. The views of Austin Landing outside

made it that much better. When it comes to the ambience of Dewey’s, I can say it was

pretty good, maybe even better than other places.

Following my observations about the dining room, I began to scan the menu.

Despite it being a pizza place, I still expected many options. I was not disappointed. The

menu included everything from salads to pizzas to desserts. There were multiple kinds

of each of these, too. The huge menu allowed me to think about each different item and

what I really wanted in a pizza. They had the “specialty pizzas” that they were most

popular for, making it seem like they put a lot of care into the menu. If nothing on the

specialties menu seemed appealing, there was also a create your own version of the

pizzas. This made the menu very inclusive of everyone who could be dining there; from

the pickiest to the most outgoing diners. The menu at Dewey’s is bigger than most pizza

places, making it exceed any prior expectations.

When I go into a restaurant and order my food, I don’t expect to be waiting at the

table for over twenty five minutes for my food. It needs to be delivered to the table in just

enough time for the anticipation of the food arriving to take over the hunger. Almost

every time I’ve been to Dewey’s, they’ve been under this time. The only exception is

when we ordered about 8 pizzas for a big party that I was a part of. In reality, this would

be the same for any other pizza place that I’ve been to, so they are equal in that way. All

in all, I would say that the service was up to my standards in regards to getting the food

out in a timely manner.

The final thing that I expect to see in a restaurant is quality food that is

reasonably priced. My table ordered two pizzas, so I was able to try a few different

items. When I tasted each pizza for the first time, I could tell that they made them fresh.

It tasted like the dough was homemade and the toppings were as fresh as they could

be. There was nothing that tasted overly processed, which was a pleasant surprise. The

crunch of the crust and the stringiness of the cheese made for a nice bite. I would say

that their food is delicious and much better than any place like Pizza Hut or Domino’s.

While being great in most aspects, one of Dewey’s downfalls is the hefty price that you

see on the check at the end of the meal. The food is a little bit pricey compared to other

places. It ranges from about eleven to twenty-five dollars for a pizza, depending on the

size, while other places range from about nine to fifteen dollars. Other than paying a bit

more for the food, the quality and price met my expectations.

Dining at Dewey’s Pizza was an overall enjoyable experience. Dewey’s hit it out

of the park with their welcoming staff, quick service, calming atmosphere, and

appetizing food. I would, without a doubt, recommend Dewey’s Pizza to anyone wanting

a fun dining experience with their family and friends.
