About This Manual
Purpose
At first, thank you for choosing ZXDSL 9806H Broadband Universal Access System of ZTE
Corporation!
The ZXDSL 9806H (V2.1.1) is a new universal access device. It provides abundant uplink
interfaces and cascade interfaces. The ZXDSL 9806H (V2.1.1) implements the access of
xDSL service, POTS service, Ethernet service, and BRI/PRI subscribers.
This manual provides the product information on the ZXDSL 9806H.

1.2 Shelf Configuration


In full configuration, the ZXDSL 9806H shelf is configured with: 1 backplane + 1 fan + 1
power card + 1 control and switching card + 4 subscriber line cards, as shown in Figure
1-3.

In the minimum configuration, the ZXDSL 9806H shelf is configured with: 1 backplane + 1
fan + 1 power card + 1 control and switching card + 1 subscriber line card. The subscriber
line card resides in any slot for the subscriber line card.

Note:
The requirements for the typical power consumption test are as follows:
l Uplink mode: EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network)
l ADSL2/2+ service: 50% users are activated in the reach of 3000 meters. The cable
diameter is 0.5 mm.
l VDSL2 service: 50% users are activated (LO mode) in the reach of 750 meters. The
cable diameter is 0.5 mm. The profile 17a is configured.
l Voice service: 25% users pick up phones at the same time in the short distance.
l Power supply: DC (Direct Current)

• Both the uplink daughter cards and VoIP service processing daughter cards are mounted on the
control and switching card.
• When the control and switching card is the SCCB card, the Ethernet subscriber line card resides only
in slots 1 and 2.
• The fan monitoring card is installed on the fan unit.

2.1.3 Card Relationship


Figure 2-1 shows the relationship among the ZXDSL 9806H cards.

The control and switching card (including the VoIP daughter card) communicates with the
subscriber line cards through the local bus, service bus, and the backplane.

l Local bus: The local bus transmits the control signaling.


l Service bus: The service bus transmits the service data. There are various service
buses, including:
à xDSL service bus (UTOPIA L2/POSPHY L2/SERDES)

à Ethernet service bus (SERDES)


à Narrowband service bus (TDM)

2.1.4 Card Operating Environment


To ensure that the card operates properly, the operating environment needs to meet the
following requirements:
l Temperature: -30℃ to 60℃
l Humidity: 5% to 95% (non-condensing)

2.2 Control and Switching Cards


The ZXDSL 9806H supports the following control and switching cards:

l SCCB card
l SCCBK card

2.2.1 Card Functions


The control and switching card implements the following functions:

l Configuration, management and control: Implements configuration, management,


and control on the subscriber cards.
l Broadband service processing: Supports the access of xDSL (Digital Subscriber Line)
service and Ethernet service. Implements the data switching between the user port
and uplink/cascade port.
l Narrowband service processing: Supports the access of the voice service via the VoIP
daughter card and POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) subscriber card.
l Uplink: Provides FE (Fast Ethernet) optical/electrical interfaces, GE (Gigabit
Ethernet) optical/electrical interfaces, EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network)
interfaces, GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) interfaces, and 10G EPON

2.9.1 Card Functions


The DC power supply card (PWDHE) implements the following functions:

l Provides 3.3 V output and -48 V DC output.

2.10.1 Card Functions


The AC power supply card (PWAHE) implements the following functions:
l Uses 110 V/220 V AC input (the voltage ranges from 100 V to 240 V).
l Provides 3.3 V output and -48 V DC input.
l Provides the DC battery power interface, supporting -48 V DC or battery power input.

3.1 Card Functions


The fan unit implements the following functions:
l The fan box resides on the left side of shelf. The air exhausts from the fan box and
the shelf temperature lowers.
l The built-in fan card tests the fan operation and implements other fan control functions.

3.2 Working Principle


Figure 3-1 shows the working principle of the fan monitoring card (FCBH), which is built in
the fan unit.

Control unit Detects the fan status and controls the fan speed.

Power detection Detects the power voltage. When the voltage is out of the
tolerant range (-41.5 V to -61.6 V), the power detection module
reports an alarm to the control and switching card.

End A of the power cable is connected to the ZXDSL 9806H shelf, supplying the power to
the shelf. End B of the power cable is connected to the DC terminal of the power distributor
(supplying DC power) or the AC output terminal of the power distributor (supplying AC
power).

The ZXDSL 9806H uses two types of subscriber cables:

5.3 Network Cable

5.4 75 Ohm E1 Subscriber Cable

End A uses the coaxial connector, which is connected to the Rx/Tx interface of the
ETUC/ETUCE card. The connector at End B depends on the opposite device.

5.5 120 Ohm E1 Subscriber Cable


Both ends of the 120 ohm E1 subscriber cable use RJ–48 connectors (RJ–48 and RJ–45
are the same in appearance). The 120 ohm E1 cable is Category 5 cable. Figure 5-6
shows the structure of 120 ohm E1 subscriber cable.

5.6 Fiber Pigtail


Cable Description
A fiber pigtail is a single short fiber which connects the optical interface or the optical
adapter on the ODF (Optical Distribution Frame). A fiber pigtail has optical connectors at
both ends.
