Duration: 45 periods (3 credits)
Course objectives: English for Business Studies is designed for Upper-Intermediate to Advanced
Levels of English Learners (B2-C2 CEFR), who need to understand and express the key concepts
of business and economics in English. It covers the most important areas of management,
production, marketing, finance and macroeconomics.
Course aims: This course is to help learners
+ Understand the language and concepts of business and economics
+ Develop their four language skills and give practice in the comprehension of business and
economics texts.
+ Improve their confidence, language fluency, and take various opportunities to express
business concepts themselves while synthesizing and summarizing, analyzing, criticizing and
discussing their ideas.

CLASS REGULATIONS

1. Student workload:
Students are required to attend classes, participate in discussions, take tests, etc. as
regulated in the academic regulations of the university.
- Assignment: complete homework and in-class assignment
- Learning tools and materials: projector, computer, whiteboard, textbooks “English for
Management Studies” by Tony Corballis and Wayne Jennings and “English for Business
Studies” by Ian Mackenzie
- Others: students are expected to work in groups of 3-5 people, prepare lessons, give
presentations, and answer questions from teachers as well as other students.
2. Student assessment system:
- Weekly assignments: 10%
- Group presentation: 10%
- LMS: 20%
- Mid-term Test: 10%
- Final Exam: 50%
