THE GREATEST NUMBER OF HOLY WEEKS DECLARED OF TOURIST INTEREST

• Holy Week is one of Castilla y León’s most deeply-rooted popular and cultural
celebrations and one of its greatest tourist attractions.
• Art, tradition, religious fervor and popular customs all converge to form one of the
greatest celebrations of the year in Castilla y León.
• Indeed, Castilla y León boasts the greatest number of Holy Week celebrations to
have been declared of International, National and Regional Tourist Interest. Due to:
– Castilla y León cities convert in open air museums.
– Deeply-routed religious celebrations that date back to the 16th century.
– Home to some of Spain’s oldest brotherhoods.
– Holy images which includes one of Spain’s most outstanding collections of 16th
century images of Christ, including works of masters such as Gregorio Fernández
or Juan de Juni.
– Popular traditions such as the hauntingly lovely voices singing the Salve.
• We encourage to discover the dozens of inmmensely moving processions,
‘meetings’, acts of penitence and dramatic re-enactments that take place over a ten
day period –from Friday of Sorrows to Easter Sunday- in the main squares and streets
of the cities of Castilla y León.

Ribera del Duero Wine Route

The quality of the wines in this region, which

covers four provinces, – Soria, Burgos, Segovia and
Valladolid, is added to the numerous tourist attractions
and the artistic and cultural wealth of each of the towns it covers.
There are hundreds of possiblities always combining history, landscape,
gastronomy and wine tasting, such as learn how to sample wine, the
Castle route, wine therapy and spa, a weekend in the wine cellars, ...

The main localities through which passes this attractive route are:
• San Esteban de Gormaz in Soria
• the villages of the province of Burgos of Aranda de Duero
and Roa.
• as well as Peñafiel in Valladolid, symbol of the wines of Ribera
• del Duero.
• Segovia, very close to the Ribera del Duero Wine Route, we find
an impressive natural enclave, the Riaza river gully,
protected for its considerable value.
