You are on page 1of 2

Dear Josh Bayer,

I’m writing to you today to reflect on the first semester of this year and to make sure that
you are staying on track to achieve the goals that you put into place at the start of this year.
During this letter I will talk about how much you’ve grown this year and how much more room
you have to grow. I want you to look back on this letter later in the school year to see if you are
still on track with your goals.
Currently we are back to in person learning, and as of right now it looks like we are
staying like this. It was definitely a bit different at the start of the year, but you have slowly eased
back into this new workplace and it is starting to feel normal again. Even though we are back at
school, the coronavirus is still affecting our everyday lives as we still have to follow mandates
still, but it is definitely still an improvement from what it was like last year. You accomplished
your goal of last semester of getting a 4.0, and now all you are looking to do is repeat that this
semester and wait back to hear from colleges.
If you think all the way back to 9th grade you’ve grown so much. You entered that year
not knowing what was in front of you. You spent the last 4 years meeting new friends,
developing as a person, and improving your academic skills. You grew so much from 9th to 10th
grade in reading, writing, and being a learner. During that time you learned how to write a high
school paper while also making study habits that you would end up using for the rest of
highschool. Those two years were your toughest years academically, but it taught you so much
more than you could’ve ever imagined. All those assignments that you thought were very hard
prepared you for the upcoming years.
During your 11th grade year things took a turn. The coronavirus set into place and trying
to do school online was a very new and frustrating concept. Luckily most of the teachers were
very understanding, but it took some time to adapt to the situation. That year you proved a lot to
yourself by being able to obtain a 4.3 for the whole school year. During that year you grew as a
reader and writer, but you grew most as a learner. As teachers were trying new methods of
teaching, you were able to adapt to every single one and still kept a good GPA. You stuck to
your habits that you developed the previous two years and it benefitted you.
Now you are currently in your final year of highschool and you're halfway done. This past
semester you still continued to grow and as a reader and writer as you were able to submit good
work. You also kept growing as a learner as you got an A in your statistics math that was
challenging due to that you never have seen math like that before and you got an A in
economics which was also a very new topic to you. You worked very hard over this past
semester and you accomplished your first goal you made at the beginning of the year.
At this point, you want to continue to do the same thing that you have been doing. You
have goals of finishing this year with a 4.0, getting accepted into colleges, and finishing in the
upwards part of your class. Your study habits have worked over the past three and a half years,
so you don’t plan on changing anything now. Although this is a popular time for people to get
unmotivated in school, you have a strong goal of finishing this year strong and preparing you for
the years to come in the near future.
You have done everything you have wanted to do since you started high school and you
are so close to the end. I want you to enjoy the final memories you are going to make as you
start the countdown towards graduation. Keep pushing yourself through the finish line and never
let up.
Sincerely, Josh Bayer
