TERESA, RIZAL

I. Setting of the Community

a. Description
Teresa is a municipality in Rizal, a landlocked province in the Philippines. The municipality has a

land area of 18.61 square kilometers or 7.19 square miles, accounting for 1.57 percent of the total

area of Rizal. According to the 2020 Census, its population was 64,072. This accounted for 1.92

percent of the total population of Rizal province, or 0.40 percent of the CALABARZON region's

total population. Based on these numbers, the population density is calculated to be 3,443 people

per square kilometer or 8,911 people per square mile. Teresa has nine barangays and a postal code

of 1880. It has an area of 18.61 km2 with a population density of 3,443 people per square kilometer.

In 2020, the total population in Teresa, Rizal is 64, 072 (PhilAtlas, n.d.).

c. Age and Sex distribution

The age group with the highest population in Teresa, according to the 2015 Census, is 15 to 19,

with 6,099 people. The age group with the lowest population, on the other hand, is 80 and over,

with 265 people. When all age groups are combined, those aged 14 and under account for 30.82

percent of the young dependent population, which includes infants/babies, children, and young

adolescents/teenagers (17,800). Those aged 15 to 64, roughly the economically active population

and actual or potential members of the labor force, account for 65.73 percent of the total population

(37,964). Finally, the old dependent population, which includes senior citizens aged 65 and up,

accounts for 3.45 percent (1,991) of the total population. According to the computed Age

Dependency Ratios, there are 47 youth dependents for every 100 working-age population in

Teresa; 5 aged/senior citizens for every 100 working-age population; and 52 dependents (young

and old-age) for every 100 working-age population overall. The median age of 25 indicates that

half of Teresa's population is under the age of 25, and the other half is over the age of 25 (PhilAtlas,
