BARANGAY HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Dumalian is a barangay in the
Municipality of San Miguel, in the
province of Zamboanga Del Sur.

It was called “Daralian” in


Subanen, Dinalian in Visayan
language which means urgent or
pressing. It was in the year 1962
when barangay was created and its
previous name Daralian was changed
into Dumalian in the same year under
the leadership of Doring Mantiad who
served as the Kapitan del Barrio.

Geographical Location
Barangay Dumalian is located at 743’24’’N
Barangay Dumalian is situated at the 12314’31’’ East with a total land area of
Southwestern part of the Municipality of San 3,340.21 hectares.
Miguel, Zamboanga Del Sur and its barangay
center is along Purok 1 and Purok 4 which is Elevation and Slope
about 12.1 kilometers distance from the
Municipal Government Center in Poblacion. Elevation is about 255 meters above sea
level.
Boundaries Slope is hilly to mountainous with only small
area with 488.81 slope.
Barangay Dumalian is bounded by the
Municipality of Tigbao, Zamboanga Del Sur in Surface Drainage
the East, by barangay Ocapan in the South, by
barangay Concepcion in the West and by the Barangay Dumalian has two (2) rivers –
Municipality of Lapuyan in its Northwestern Dumalian River and Limonan River
part. traversing through Barangay Concepcion
and draining to Limonan.
Soil Type
Land Stability
The soil composition of San Miguel
which belongs to the clay family, The Adtuyon Loam is suited for the
specifically classified by the Department cultivation of seasonal and perennial
of Agriculture as Adtuyon Loam crops. The lowland area of the barangay
characterized as steep lands, shallow is best suited for Rice, Watermelon and
soils, low fertility and moderate to it could also be utilized as Fish Pond and
severe erosion for cultivation, suited for other diversified crops while upland is
grazing and forest development. Most of good for Corn, Coconut and Root crops.
the upland areas in Barangay Dumalian
are very low in soil fertility and strongly
acidic due to low organic matter content
of the soil.
