Study Manager – Rincon Project

We are looking for a Study Manager to support the Rincon Project in Argentina. The role is positioned
as a strategic leader for Battery Materials and will ensure internal and external stakeholders understand
the vision for the Project and other and growth projects in the Business Unit. This is a critical role that
will be supported by internal Rio Tinto Study discipline leads, external Consultants, and Project and
Battery Minerals, Management

About the role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be leading a team accountable for the overall planning,
execution, and safe delivery of the project and study. You will driver project and study outcomes that
support the busines requirements by progressing the project through the pre-feasibility and feasibility
study stages. Critical to your role will be the ability to engage and manage internal and external
stakeholders. Other accountabilities include:

• Provides guidance and leadership to disciplines contributing to the study


• Ensures a seamless relationship between the Minerals product group and Rio Tinto Projects
• Effectively engaging and managing consultants, monitoring and managing different
workstreams, dealing with external factors including regulators, working with a team to deliver
tangible results that meet deadlines and other expectations/requirements
• Resource allocation, schedule and budget planning and management;
• Providing guidance and leadership to the wide range of disciplines contributing to the study;
• Managing multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts
• Managing specialty subcontractors and Consultants to deliver the required scope
• Ensuring robust trade-offs are undertaken to deliver an optimized project
• Ensuring alignment is maintained between the study and execution plans
• Contributing to, and supporting the preparation of project approval requests and presentations for
senior management consideration
• Identifying, evaluating and mitigating project risks and delivering on identified opportunities

About you

You will bring a range of skills to this role including:


• A proven commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your team, and the environment
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Processing, Geoscience,
Environmental Science, Business Analysis or other relevant discipline
• Lithium industry understanding, including Resource assessment, Processing options and
through the value chain understanding
• Critical thinking and analytics skills; able to challenge technical teams with alternate
approaches, options
• Proven ability to effectively present and communicate key technical, financial, safety,
environmental and social matters to internal and external stakeholders
• Robust, rigorous and consistent approach to study delivery – understand SDGN and RT
approval processes, well organized and structured, effective use of study monitoring and
management systems
• Proven Study leadership experience with high influencing and negotiation skills with ability to
collate and organise multiple disciplinary outputs while applying a holistic view ot the overall
study
• Risk management, commercial awareness, business analysis & reporting, and
operational/business knowledge
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with fluency in English and Spanish

Great Panther Mining Limited (“Great Panther” or the “Company”) is headquartered in Vancouver,

Canada, with operations in three leading Latin American mining jurisdictions. The Company employs

approximately 1,800 people and is listed on the TSX and NYSE American.

The COO is responsible for the safe and successful operation of Great Panther’s global mining
operations

and growth and development projects. The role reports directly to the CEO and has functional

responsibility for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. Furthermore, the COO will be expected to

articulate and implement the Mission, Vision and Values of Great Panther.

The COO will be part of the Senior Executive Team and will share the responsibility with the CEO and
the

Chief Finance Officer & Corporate Secretary (CFO) of ensuring the Company meets its short-term

operational and long-term strategic goals. The COO will also be responsible for the implementation and

further development of the Company’s strategic vision.

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree/master’s degree in mining related engineering and registered as a professional engineer

• A recognized MBA will be a distinct advantage

• A minimum of 10-15 years of extensive experience in a senior role within the mining industry,

previous experience as a COO is essential

• Strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability

• Demonstrated good working knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic

plans, management policies, strategies and systems


• Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultative skills with the ability to interact with

senior people in the company, private and public sector

• Highly analytic and strategic with the ability to appreciate the big picture and context, and

effectively implement the same in practical terms

• Strong financial acumen including the ability to develop budgets and plans and be accountable to

the plans, monitor and assess financial performance

• A proven track record in improving all mine site processes

• Demonstrated ability to be responsible for the successful direction, management and

development of mining operations and projects

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and be equally at home at leading personnel at

the mine site and presenting in the boardroom

• Proven ability to effectively present and communicate key technical, financial, safety,

environmental and social matters to the board and other stakeholders

• Have proven experience in the development and management of mine operations

• Experience in working in Latin America is preferable and Brazil would be a bonus

• Demonstrated track record of establishing and maintaining safe work environments and fostering

a strong safety culture

• Experience and knowledge to ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety

regulations and associated permits.

• Must speak English, and preferably Spanish and/or Portuguese
