Chapter V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter consists of the summary of the findings, the conclusion and

recommendation constructed based from the results on the phytochemical

screening of the ethanolic extract of White Raddish (Raphanus sativus L.),

the antifungal testing against Saprolegnia multispora fungus.

Summary of Findings

This research aimed to determine the phytochemical constituents

present White Raddish (Raphanus sativus L.) ethanolic extract, its antifungal

property Saprolegnia multispora fungus.

Based on the data gathered, analyzed, and interpreted, the findings are the

following :

1. White Raddish (Raphanus sativus L.) is effective as an antifungal

effect with inhibitory zone of 10mm in 100% ethanolic extract, 7.6mm

in 75% ethanolic extract, and 5.7mm in 50% ethanolic extract.

2. Based on the findings white radish (Raphanus sativus L.) inhibits

fungal growth as applied to Saprolegnia multispora fungus.

3. 100% concentration of White Raddish (Raphanus sativus L.) ethanolic

extract is the most effective among the three concentrations, with

10mm inhibitory zone in all three replications.

4. There is no significant difference in the three concentrations tested to

Saprolegnia multispora fungus.

Conclusion

The following conclusions were made based on the result:

1. The phytochemical constituents Flavonoids, Glycosides, Phenolic

compounds, and Tannins were found in ethanolic extract of white radish

(Raphanus sativus L.)

2. White radish (Raphanus sativus L.) is effective as an antifungal effect

with inhibitory zone of 10mm in 100% ethanolic extract, 7.6mm in 75%

ethanolic extract, and 5.7mm in 50% ethanolic extract.

3. The 100% concentration of White Raddish (Raphanus sativus L.)

ethanolic extract is the most effective among the three concentrations,

with 10mm inhibitory zone in all three replications.

4. There is no significant difference between 100%, 75%, and 50%

concentration of white radish (Raphanus sativus L.).

Recommendations

The following recommendations were made based on findings:

1. The researchers suggest to conduct another research with this plant

but using fish infected with Saprolegnia multispora.

2. The researcher suggests methanolic extract instead of ethanolic and

compare its effectivity.

3. The researchers suggest that another research would be conducted

using the seeds and the leaves of White Raddish (Raphanus sativus L.)

instead of using only the fruit.

4. The researchers suggest that the future researchers will conduct a

cytotoxicity test.
