Webcams
Now a days webcams are used in people's everyday lives. That could be when they are
at work, in school, or at home. A webcam is a type of technology that allows you to be
able to interact with people through a live feed of yourself. This allows you be able be
present at a certain class or meeting without needing to actually be at that location.
Classroom Usage
Due to the recent pandemic that has forced students and teachers to have to attend
classes online or teacher online. Being able to use webcams while distance learning,
students were able to have meetings and interact with their teacher and classmates
through apps that allowed them to connect. Teachers were able to teach their students
via webcams.
Pros of Webcams
● Webcams allow teachers to be able to give students test or quizzes online while
having a webcam on. This will allow teachers to be able to see the environment
the student is in and making sure they’re not cheating.
● Webcams can also be extremely beneficial to those students who have a language
barrier. Webcams are a good way to be to connect students to different culture
and languages around the world.
● Students can use webcams for projects, for example when needing to record a
speech for an assignment in school.
Cons of Webcams
● Students not having the access to webcams while at home. Even though schools
did provide students with computers, some did not have the access to internet
which caused many more problems besides not being able to access webcams
while learning.
● Students have the ability to turn off and on their own webcams. This can allow
the student to show up in the classroom but the teacher won't know if they are
actually participating.
● Some students and parents can refuse webcams due to their right of privacy. Some
students may feel uncomfortable showing their living spaces on camera.
