WRITING TASK 2

Museums are a great source of knowledge in societies. Many museums charge a hefty amount
as an entrance fee, however, others do not. There are some individuals who argue that entry of
these educational institutes should be free of cost to serve society better. I believe that
charging a nominal amount as an entrance fee can be beneficial in many ways.

Undeniably, charging a hefty amount on visitors has some negative effects. Firstly, it deprives
people of a lack of opportunity to access most of the vital information about history, art, and
science. Secondly, paying an entrance fee can be the major factor to affect the popularity of a
museum over others, despite having many artifacts. Many citizens will start flinching from
visiting these institutions due to the entrance charges. This may eventually put the existence of
museums on stake.

Despite having a few drawbacks, entrance charges can be beneficial in many ways. Most
prominently, museum authorities can use the entrance fee amount for many purposes. For
instance, time-to-time renovation cost, electricity charges, safety, and security cost to operate
these institutions properly. Moreover, this has been noticed in the past that many times the
governments fail to meet the requirement of these institutions. However, by charging an
entrance fee, museums can have their own revenue to keep the place clean and attractive to
get more visitors.

To conclude, charging entrance fees for museums can attract negative remarks from some
people. I think posing a nominal amount on visitors can be beneficial in many ways for
museums.

While some people believe that zoos play an important role in protecting wild animals, others
feel that keeping animals locked up in such places is cruel and unnecessary. Personally, I agree
with the idea that animals should not be kept in zoos and that zoos should be shut down.

On the one hand, many people feel that zoos are useful in some regards. Firstly, zoos can help
to preserve endangered animals by keeping them safe from poachers and other threats, such as
habitat destruction and the spread of urbanisation. Some zoos also run breeding programs in
order to try and increase the numbers of some endangered species to avoid them becoming
extinct. Secondly, by keeping animals in zoos, people can learn and understand more about
them and this can help to raise awareness amongst the public in order to help preserve certain
species.

However, while the abovementioned ideas may be true to a certain extent, I believe that zoos
are unnecessary for the following reasons. To begin with, zoos can only hold small numbers of
animals and therefore cannot protect the large majority of species from being hunted or their
habitats from being destroyed. I believe it is the responsibility of each government to create
and fund conservation programs that help to stop the destruction of the habitats of
endangered species so that animals can live in their natural state rather than be locked up in
cages for their entire life. Furthermore, in many zoos, animals are being mistreated as they are
often provided with insufficient food and medical care, which has so far caused many animals in
zoos to die because of starvation and diseases.

In conclusion, though some zoos may have some positive impacts on the conservation of some
certain animal species, overall, I think they are cruel places and do more harm than good.

It is true that many movies and television programs have more crime and violence related
scenes. Some people say this is the main reason for increasing anti-social activities in society.
Therefore, these type of films should be strictly regulated by government bodies. I completely
agree with the statement.

Films , Dramas and TV programs have many impacts on the young brain. Most of the young
people spend their time in front of screen devices to watch these. So, it is easy to learn these
bad habits ,violent behaviours and anti-social activities through the film. In addition, some good
people also want to give it a try or want to pretend the same scene in their real life. A recent
survey in the US clearly indicates the relationship between violent behaviour and the influence
of the films watching by them. For ,example many educated crowds turn to be robbers after
watching the Money Heist web series only. So it is a proven fact, that giving too much
prominence to crime scenes makes the community sick and addicted.

Some people argue about the necessity of these scenes to express the actual message to the
viewers. But this is not always true. Because, when there is no restriction people produce what
they want; they pay unnecessary focus to anti-social behaviours. interestingly, movies are
produced for the purpose of entertainment and they are not produced to train thieves,
smugglers and murders. Therefore the segments which are carrying these sort of messages in
details are not necessary and should be removed from the film before the telecast or show.
This nature of strict monitoring would be helpful to identify and remove the unwanted violence
segments from the films and teledramas. Many developed countries have their own regulatory
bodies for such purposes is a good example to follow.

In conclusion, To limit the growing violent behaviour among the public ,film and movies which
are promoting these type of behaviours should be regulated and monitored by governments to
improve the quality of films.

Our life is surrounded by advertisements. No one can go through the day without seeing them.
Many people praise the benefits of advertising. I partly agree with such claims. A moderation in
advertising can bring about a certain positive contribution to society. However, excessive and
abusive marketing actions can create more harm than good.

A well-developed advertising industry creates many values to society. Firstly, consumers will be
fully informed of information on all the goods and services in the market. This is extra helpful
with complex products and services such as insurances or medicine. Secondly, certain
advertisements can inspire people to better themselves. Nike, for example, often embeds
motivational messages in their ads to promote a relentless fighting spirit in the youth. Last but
not least, many innovative business models can be formed based on the acceptance of
watching advertisements. Google and Facebook are probably the most notable examples. By
generating revenue from ads, these companies allow us to use their products for free.

Nevertheless, advertisements can pose significant problems in our lives. Spam emails are
undeniably annoying to most people. Also, spammers can also harm the environment via their
overuse of electricity. But the worst damages come from false advertising. In competitive
markets, many companies misrepresent their products to make their ads more attractive. Some
can go as far as faking everything to get money. For example, Theranos cheated many people
on their capabilities to do blood testing with just a few drops of blood. They ran many
advertisements to glorify their technologies and business founder. Many believed in Theranos’
miracle. Unsurprisingly, the company managed to attract over a billion dollars in investments.
All were gone later. In other extreme situations, deaths can happen such as the case of weight
loss supplement Hydroxycut. The company had managed to sell over a million units due to
aggressive marketing campaigns about superb wonderful effects. It was then banned for death-
related incidents.

In conclusion, advertisements are only as good as the intentions of the people behind them.
The government should spend more resources on regulating advertisers to ensure a safe
environment for all.

There are conflicting views regarding whether the electronic database could replace physical
books. Both sides of the argument will be discussed in this essay, followed by my perspective
on this matter.

Many people would argue that concrete books will exit human history because e-readers are
far more convenient. As is known, digital books could be stored in smartphones, laptops, or
other kinds of e-books, which are all small in size and light in weight. Because of such features,
many books could be compiled and stored in a small gadget so that people could easily carry
thousands of books with them. By doing this, people will never be bothered by the weight of
printed books and could enjoy reading some pages, for instance, on their ways to the
workplace, back home, or any time while they have free time.

Conversely, others find that tangible books are still of significance in modern society since there
is a merit of traditional books that could not be taken place by the digital ones. Printed books
could not be connected to the Internet, so that conventional readers are more likely to be
concentrated on the contents of what they are reading without being distracted by other
information brought by the Internet. In comparison, e-books users might be frequently
interrupted by various messages popping out on the screen, for instance, a piece of
advertisement. In this way, many people would still prefer printed books rather than electronic
ones.

In my opinion, because of their unique reading experience, traditional ways of reading will not
be abandoned. Although digitalized books can be beneficial in some circumstances, they might
cause other problems. In conclusion, physical books will continuously play an essential role in
our lives.
