New repair kits for pistons and piston rings

Background
There has been a spare parts range rationaliza-
tion implemented for repair kits for pistons and
piston rings, which means that the appearance
of pistons and the size of some piston rings has
changed.

The new repair kits contain piston A

Service solution
The changes have no negative impact on the
function, but may mean that the new piston or
piston rings do not look the same as the compo-
nents that are to be renewed.

Earlier instructions have been not to use differ-

ent pistons in the same engine, but this no
longer applies due to these changes.

This means that the information will be re-

moved from the Workshop Manual.

IMPORTANT!

It is not allowed to use pistons that are made of

different materials, such as aluminium and
steel.

The information in the parts catalogue is correct

and as long as the delivered component has the
same part number as in the parts catalogue, it
can be used to replace an older component,
even if the appearance or some measurements
are not the same.

When ordering pistons and piston rings, see the
information in Scania Multi, even though it
does not correspond to parts on the engine.
