Leakage at the oil dipstick flange pipe on the cylinder

block

Background Service solution

Due to a damaged retaining ring in the union,
there have been instances of oil leakage at the
oil dipstick pipe connection to the flange pipe
on the engine.
Production solution
A new flange pipe with an improved union has
been introduced in production.
This modification has been introduced into pro-
duction from the following chassis or engine se-
rial numbers:
If there are oil leaks from the oil dipstick pipe
connection to the flange pipe on the engine, re-
place with a new improved flange pipe.
IMPORTANT!
In order for the correct oil level to be shown, the
oil dipstick pipe must always be renewed when
renewing to the new flange pipe, as the new
flange pipe is longer than the old one.

Work description
1. Remove the oil filler hose (A) and the oil
dipstick plastic pipe (B) from the flange
pipe (C).
2. Remove the flange pipe from the cylinder
block.
3. Remove the gasket and clean the gasket
surface.

4. For straight engines manufactured at

Scania São Paulo: Polish the flange pipe
(D) on the inside, see illustration.

5. Fit the new flange pipe with a new gasket.

6. Fit the oil filler hose.
7. Fit a new plastic pipe for the oil dipstick.
