Because modifications have been made to the
newer type of cylinder block, certain parts are
not interchangeable between the older and new-
er type of cylinder block. The parts concerned
are:

• Cylinder liner
• O-ring for cylinder block
• O-ring for cylinder liner
• Repair kits
• Piston cooling nozzle A. Figure 1 shows the
new type of piston cooling nozzle that has an Figure 1
opening, see arrow. The old piston cooling
nozzle does not have this opening.

IMPORTANT!

Do not fit an old piston cooling nozzle on a new


cylinder block and vice versa. Cooling of pis-
tons and gudgeon pins would then be less effec-
tive.

Difference between the older and newer
type of cylinder block

Do not fit a cylinder liner intended for the newer


type of cylinder block in a cylinder block of the Figure 2
older design. The cylinder liner will not reach
the bottom of the cylinder block, see Figure 2.

Do not fit a cylinder liner intended for the older


type of cylinder block in a cylinder block of Figure 3
newer design. The cylinder liner will fit but the
play between the cylinder liner and cylinder
block will be excessive, approx. 1.05 mm, see
Figure 3.

When the correct cylinder liner is fitted in the


newer type of cylinder block, the play should be Figure 4
