Miscellaneous:

Leakage from the clutch servo

Background
There have been instances of leakage from the
clutch servo on vehicles with manual gearbox.
The internal hydraulic seal in the clutch servo
has in some cases had an abnormally high
amount of leakage.

When the hydraulic seal starts leaking, hydrau-

lic oil enters the air chamber. When enough hy-
draulic oil has accumulated in the air chamber,
the oil starts leaking into the vent. The old vent
diaphragm cannot withstand hydraulic oil, and
dirt enters the air chamber. When dirt enters the
air chamber, seals and O-rings quickly become
worn, and the clutch servo stops working.

Production solution
A new clutch servo has been developed. Three
main improvements have been implemented for
the new clutch servo:

• A new double lip seal has been developed

and replaces the old single lip seal. The dou-
ble lip seal has a better sealing effect since
the lips have a smaller contact surface and
therefore a higher pressure.
• A new ventilating valve has been developed.
Instead of ending in a diaphragm that is lo-
cated directly on the clutch servo, a hose that
is attached using cable ties to the air supply
pipe has been introduced.
• A new bellows has been developed. The new
bellows is fixed in a groove on the pushrod
and travels with the pushrod for the entire
stroke.
The modifications have been introduced into
production from the following chassis or engine
serial numbers:

Service solution

Work description

IMPORTANT!

Attach the vent pipe to the air supply pipe. If the

vent is not attached, there is a risk that it turns
upwards. If it turns upwards, it is easier for dirt
to enter the clutch servo.

1. Replace the old clutch servo with a new

one.
2. Attach the hose from the ventilating valve
using cable ties at the air supply pipe with
the plastic button towards the air intake. Do
not tighten the cable tie too much so that the
vent is clamped.
