The competencies set in the course are very relevant
and applicable as it helps us be updated with the new
pedagogies in education, this includes new ways and
technologies. It has enable me personally to check
myself if I am a 21st century teacher. I have learned
that I must develop my ICT skills and that I should
utilize this skill to encourage collaborative learning
among my learners.
I have learned that being a 21st century teacher is not
an easy job, but it is achievable. Just like my learners, I
needed to be equipped with skills at par with the
demands of their learning capabilities. I needed to
improve my weaknesses and develop them into my
strengths. And I will be able to do that by
I had to balance my time during the last weeks of the
course for I had to look after my father who was
admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. I was a bit
distracted and was unable to finish my assignments
that are to be submitted.
The are that I wanted to focus on related to 21st
Century learning is classroom management. I have
experienced handling heterogeneous class and I have
discovered that although I have set rules, there will still
be students that will misbehave or will act otherwise. I
am slowly learning how to effectively manage such
misbehavior especially with my learners who are older
than their classmates. Although I facilitate learning
there are times that I needed to reevaluate my
classroom management especially with misbehaving
learners.
It was a great experience. I was able to learn new
things from my colleagues and was able to apply most
of my learnings to my own development. The FLT
Competencies set are all achievable and
I would love to have more chat sessions with my co-
participants. It would be great if we can have a chat
session wherein we could throw ideas and learn more
from each other. We could also utilize it to reflect
more on the lessons we had discussed.
