LNG/C Boiler & Turbine Controls

Presentation 2011

1
Company history/philosophy

1979: Founded by three automation engineers at Kockums.

1980: Texon acquires Kockums Marine Process Automation

150 boiler control systems installed of them 15 LNG/C.

2007: Acquired by Kockumation Group. Kockumation group

consist of Kockum Sonics, Texon Automation & Polarmarine.

Business philosophy:
Turn key solutions including design, hardware, software, field
equipment, installation, commissioning and functional guarantee

Long term partnership:

Texon can still support combustion control system produced in the
1970´s!

2
Typical projects
Texon Automation has for 40 years been involved in designing
and producing ships automation systems, in particular controls
for LNG carriers. Typical turnkey projects have included the
following control and monitoring systems:

Automatic Combustion Controls (ACC)

Burner Management System (BMS)
Main Engine/Turbine controls
Miscellaneous controls (steam temperature, water
level, feed pump, etc.)
Low Duty Compressor controls
Consumption and venting gas flow measurement
systems
Engine monitoring systems

Typical project steps
Onboard survey
– Current system is examined
– List of field equipment to be replaced is established (see slide further ahead)
– Areas of improvement are identified
– Report along with firm offer for upgrading is sent to customer

Supply & Engineering

– Engineering of system
– Submission of design approval to class
– Fabrication of complete system
– Factory acceptance test in presence of surveyor from class/owner.
– Training of officers on the new system
– Shipment

Installation Supervision
– Installation of system
– Installation of field equipment
– Installation of new cabling if required
continues on next slide..

5
Typical project steps continued....
Fuel Oil burning commissioning
– Fine tuning of process parameters once the boilers are in normal operation.
– Site acceptance test / Dock trials

Gas burning commissioning

– Gas burning commissioning as soon as gas firing is possible
– Dual Fuel / Gas only commissioning

Optimization of burning process

– Fine tuning of system done during first laden voyage
– Training of onboard crew
