Hi, my name is Ben and as some of you may know with these courses, I am pretty much

the everything for this production you are auditioning for- cameraman, stunt man,
director, producer, writer, sound designer- you name it, I’m doing it.
However, you are here for arguably the most important role of actors. There are 3 main
characters in this production, simply named Main, Blind Man and Aid. If you haven't seen
or haven't been referred to my post in the Creative Industries Hub on Teams then I will
give you a quick run-down of the concept. It is a horror short-film based on the concepts
of such films as A Quiet Place and Don’t Breathe. The blind man’s bluff type, keep quiet
and survive genre of horror movies. This premise will follow closer to Don’t Breathe but
with a different over-arching story, this blind man is a hunter not a sex pervert and if you
haven’t seen Don’t Breathe then that may shock you but anyway. The story. Basically,
there is a normal guy going about his day to day business at his job but the blind man is
stalking him in the background, something that isn’t too noticeable until you watch it back
and then Main heads home. Where he realises someone has broken in and that is our first
sort of jumpscare of the production. Then terror ensues, hiding maybe fighting, close-calls
and interventions. Fast-forward to the end because that's all I’ve got at the moment.
Eventually, Main escapes but we have then our introduction to Aid who pushes Main into
a stationary car- I’ll likely do that bit. Then Main is grabbed by the Aid and restrained as
Blind Man walks up to him very sinisterly before gutting him right in the neck, a gruesome
end but that's how I want it to go. Cut to black upon Main hitting the ground- roll credits.
Now, as this production goes along and scripts are written, anyone I can hire today is
welcome to input suggestions and help because I don’t just want you to be told what to
do but also be involved and feel a part of an admittedly very small team.
However, I do have some contingencies and issues with the filming of the production. For
the start of it, which is all day sort of shots, I am only available Tuesday, Saturday and
Sunday mornings, but as the days get longer Wednesday after college is also viable as a
recording time. Speaking of the longer days though, a lot of it is shot at night so at the
minute from about 2100 onwards, so you’d need to be available or have some kind of
transport. Now what makes this even more difficult is the fact I am only available due to
work, like the other days, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Just 2 days, which is a pain
in the ass, especially as I know a lot of you have your own lives.
With this aside, this won’t be every week or every Wednesday and Saturday just
whenever I’m available until filming itself is done. It’s okay for our final scene as that is
the only time our 3 actors are together at once so that could easily be shot in one evening/
night if need be.
One more note is that you will need to sign actor release forms as a part of this
production if you are offered the job. As a part of my contingency plan I am willing to
incorporate female actors as well into this if the male actors may not be available on
these dates.
Finally, I have audition forms here where I will need you to fill in your details so I can get
in contact with you and know your names, etc, etc.
