SENS Project
500 Trainees in Skills Training
2019

I am the Assistant Technical Advisor in GIZ-Myanmar. I am working in the SENS project which is
providing skills training to IDPs and conflict-affected communities (especially to women and youth)
since 2019. The courses are handicraft, welding, sewing, wiring, beauty, and hair dressing and
motorbike repairing. All the courses are 20% theory and 80% practical training. SENS support
communities to adapt or improve their different skills, understand linkage to market, manufacturing
of product based on market need, evaluation of the product by experts/ market leaders to review
the quality and content of continuous monitoring of the product quality.

In these outbreak situations, COVID 19 and political situations, the economic crisis, closing borders,
closing of import / export were affected the community terribly.

So, we have tried to conduct the tracer study for 10 trainees for assignment report who have done
the courses in 2019 to trace their employment status, Income status after the training, to support
the advance training. In this outbreak situation, we will contact the trainee via phone.

I. Executive Summary
10 trainees, one cohort from various kind of training in SENS project in 2019. 66% of the surveyed
trainees have a technical qualification and 34% a vocational qualification. Regarding the quality
training, most of the trainer satisfied with their personal experience and provided overall positive
feedback about the qualification, commitment and teaching quality of teaching and training staff.
Their main challenges to find the jobs is market linkage with the business owners which matching
with their qualify jobs. Some must extend their study for advance learning. Most of the trainee
satisfied their current jobs.

Main Objectives:
(1) What are their life changes after the training?
(2) Among 500 trainees, who got employed and who are not yet employed, why?
(3) How long do they take to get employment?
(4) What are their main challenges to get employment?
(5) What is their experience when they apply the skills on their jobs which they have learnt from
the training?
(6) Are they satisfied with their current job?
(7) How do they explore their advanced learning beyond the training?
(8) What is their feedback, suggestions, comments on the training, courses, trainers?
