Notice about use of the service lift
NOTICE!
Safety and hazard notices
All of the safety and danger notices in and on the service lift must remain
posted and be kept in legible condition!
The service lift is guided by two guide ropes [6] (steel cables). These two guide ropes, also corro-
sion-protected, run parallel in the two side guides of the cabin. The two guide ropes are fixed on
the intermediate platforms. This enables the service lift to travel safely past the platforms
without colliding.
Operation is carried out using the control panel on the control cabinet [8] in the cabin.
The installed guide components ensure smooth cabin travel.
The Hailo GLOBALlift ®R is designed for a maximum height of 150 m.
The cabin is entered or exited directly from the platform through the shutter door [9]. The
entrance and exit locations (platforms) must be safeguarded on-site by railings and be secured
to prevent falls. (Depending on the country, the lift equipment may additionally comprise an
automatic locking device.)
The service lift can be used to transport passengers or material, providing the permitted max-
imum loads are observed.
The user can select one of two operating modes. When operated manually, the service lift can be
used for transportation of persons and material. In this case, the service lift is controlled using
the control panel [8] in the cabin.
When operated automatically, the service lift is used solely for material transport or for empty
travel. The lift is then operated from the outside using the cabin outside control panel [10].
The cabin is equipped with interior lighting.
From an ergonomic point of view, the service lift is a significant aid for servicing personnel, as it
enables them to work at height without any physical strain that could affect concentration and
balance.
DANGER!
Danger due to falling loads
Without personal protective equipment (PPE), there is a risk of severe
injuries due to parts falling.
– Users are personally responsible for their own safety.
– Always wear your personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Never stand underneath suspended loads.
DANGER!
Danger due to overloading
An overloaded lift poses the danger of severe injuries from parts tearing
off.
– Always use appropriate, approved lifting equipment (belts, straps)
conforming to national and international regulations.
– Observe the specifications of the manufacturer for safe operation of
the lifting equipment.
CAUTION!
Danger due to overloading of lift
If the maximum payload is exceeded, there is a danger of serious prop-
erty damage from parts tearing off and falling down.
When the maximum payload is exceeded, the lift’s overload protection is activated and the lift
automatically stops.
Test the functioning of the EMERGENCY STOP button every day. If the EMERGENCY STOP button
does not work, switch off the service lift and secure the main switch against being switched back
on. Do not switch the service lift back on until the EMERGENCY STOP button is working again.
The EMERGENCY STOP button is located outside the lift, next to the shutter door.
The main switch is located in the cabin on the side of the control cabinet. The main switch can be
secured with a padlock against unauthorised switching on.
DANGER!
Fig. 4: Position of the interlocks on the railings/guard Danger due to falling
rail door There is a danger of falling with the guard rail door opened!
– Only open the guard rail door if the service lift is at the platform.
– In an emergency, the guard rail door can be opened in order to
access the ladder.
– Secure yourself using PFPE (personal fall protection equipment).
EMERGENCY descent switch (optional) This optional EMERGENCY descent switch is located on the start platform.
This switch can be used to lower the service lift back down to the start platform in the event of an
emergency.
Requirement:
n The service lift is ready for operation.
n The arrester device is not locked.
To move the lift, the EMERGENCY descent switch must be pressed and held down. If the button is
released, the cabin will stop immediately.
The button is located behind a pane of emergency break glass that must be destroyed in order
to use the button (safety feature).
WARNING!
Danger of injury due to collision with the service lift!
In automatic mode, there is a danger of injury due to collision with the
service lift.
Fig. 8: EMERGENCY descent switch sticker For this reason, observe the following:
– During the travel movement in automatic operation, no objects or
persons may be in the travel path or on the ladder!
– Before beginning automatic operation, warn all persons in the
tower using communication devices, if necessary.
– Only start the service lift when the travel route is free! Always
observe the travel route during movement.
– If there is an acute risk of collision, stop the service lift immediately.
