1) WHAT IS HUMAN FACTOR?

- Human factor is referred to as “the study of human capabilities and limitations in the
workplace”. It involves gathering information about human abilities limitations and
other characteristics and applying it to tools, machines, systems, tasks, jobs, and
environments to produce safe, comfortable, and effective human use.

2) HOW HUMAN FACTORS ARE RELATED TO AVIATION MAINTENANCE?

- It is related to aviation maintenance through identification and optimization of the

factors that affect human performance in maintenance and inspection as it dedicates to
better understanding how humans can most safely and efficiently be integrated with the
technology. The understanding then being translated into design, training, policies, or
procedures to help humans perform better.

3) WHY HUMAN FACTORS ARE SO IMPORTANT FOR MAINTENANCE PERSONAL?

- Human factors are so important for maintenance personal to avoid or at least to

minimize human error in order to ensure safety and include social psychology, human
performance and limitations, stress, tiredness, fatigue, substance abuse, physical
distractions, and team building. General maintenance and repair workers need to
acknowledge the human aspects of equipment upkeep in order to maintain safety and
enable productivity.

4) DESCRIBE MURPHY’S LAW AND THE EXAMPLE OF MURPHY’S LAW IN

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENVIRONMENT.

- Murphy’s law is related to the tendency of human being towards complacency. The
simplest form to describe the Murphy’s law is “if anything can go wrong, it will”. The
example of the Murphy’s law in aircraft maintenance environment is that if you don’t
know what you are doing, read the maintenance manual for the rest of your shift. In
some way, it is perceived a “Bad” if you do not “know by heart” what should be done,
the opposite is off course the truth and it is incumbent on managers and supervisors to
provide guidance and support.
